Narrow frame transaxle in a Wide frame?

Can I put a narrow frame 3 speed transaxle into a wide frame?

Will the clutch setup and drive shaft work as well?

What modifications are required for this to work?

It will bolt up no problem but you'll have to custom make a drive shaft. You could pull your axle tubes off your WF rear end and put those on the NF rear end.

If you're talking about the whole rearend, they are a bolt in swap out. The original drive shaft and coupler that pins onto the rearend can also be used. One big difference may be internal versus external brakes.

I just swapped a narrow frame rearend into my 800. The 800's original driveshaft and coupler fit like a glove. They were both internal brakes, so a bolt, fluid change, and go swap.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I don't have the driveshaft for my 128 but I was going to buy a 122 roller that has the drive shaft and transaxle.

So I was just wondering if it'll fit up, also how can I tell if my 128 has internal brakes or external?

If your 128 has external brakes, you can look on the inside of each wheel and see a disc and caliper set. Internal brakes have linkage that runs to the inside of the transaxle housing.

If you see external brake calipers then it's a external brake rear. No calipers then it's internal brake. :beerchug:

It has a swapped hydro in it and I don't know if the frame is setup for internals or externals?

I don't believe that the frames are different between the two. They both have linkage that connects to the transaxle, but from there it either goes into the transaxle, or splits and goes to each of the external brakes. Parts breakdown would probably paint a good picture of it.
