Get us a closer look at that guard on it, hey Tim.
Here you go. Is this guard original or homebrew? It looks to well made and thought out to be homemade but I've seen a lot of these pumps and never seen one with a guard.

Tim, thanks for all your work. I am working on a 100 restore and I have your thread bookmarked. No where near the craftsman you are and my is more a traditional restore. I really envy guys with your skills.

Thanks

Bill

That will be a nice addition to the 100. I've never seen a guard either.

I think the guard is ugly, I wish it didn't have it because now I feel obligated to put it on.

It does look well made, maybe eliminate the one bar that goes down to the frame? Would be cleaner looking.
I'm trying to envision it painted, and I think it will be ok.

That white bar that goes to the frame isn't part of it, I think that may be for the chute control rod for a snow thrower.

Tim even that may not be original. The chute support rod on my 102 is a round metal rod further forward by the starter.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
