Figured out the linkage. I was able to slide in a piece of 1-1/2”x2”x1/4” angle iron to attach to. It’s held in with three 5/16” bolts through the 3/8” nuts welded under the fender. No modification to the fenders required. There were a couple of pieces of linkage that came with the valve that I was able to cut apart and reuse to make my new links.

Linkage is almost complete. Need to weld a few pieces yet. Got the valve plate mounted to the frame.

Levers come through the fenders where a gear drive shifter would be.

Default Absolutely amazing

Found this site yesterday, joined, and wanted to comment on this immediately, but just got validated today. I came across a 147 with a Johnson workhorse loader, and from the minute i got it home, i was toying with the idea of painting it red if i got it up and running. Its running well, and seeing what you did, now it will definitely be painted red. eventually. I am very impressed with what you did to your 149, and hopefully i can accomplish something similar. Beautiful work, and an excellent job. kudos to you.

Thanks guys.

Finished the linkage and bent a couple of hard lines to connect the valve inline with the lift valve.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
