Default Picture of the Week: February 22, 2015

This weeks submission is sent to us by local member Dale Merkle aka Merk from Middle Point, Ohio. Merk comments "This was purchased 1 1/2 years ago at an estate auction. This 100 is celebrating it’s 50th birthday this month. The 100 came with a rear 3 point hitch, 42 inch mower and a front blade. Not the prettiest Cub Cadet.......All orginal from the factory." Thanks for the submission Merk!!!

Congrats Dale!! Looks better than my NFs. The rattle can restos don't last long and look worse when they get neglected. Nothing like some original patina!

Thanks for the comments.

This was the tractor I used for the clutch rebuild segment.

I had consider a make over when I purchase this 100. It's been used as a daily worker. I never started a make over with a running Cub Cadet.

My Son made comments about getting a place of his own. He will need a tractor to take care of his yard work.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
