Default Joining Fee

I would like to make a proposal that a "Joining Fee" be considered to assist in offsetting the costs associated with the Forum
A forum in the UK I am on allows only cursory access to it until you join and then it opens up fully this could be implemented here
I am a relative newbie here (2012) but over that period I have seen many come with major questions join up get huge amounts of advice then disappear never to be seen again
This way a "Joining Fee" would be a token cost for this help and assistance that many knowledgeable members here have and pass on

It is VERY simple to "save the Forum" it costs money to operate

But as long as it's been free to join and people can donate if they want, it's work for all these years and digger is a nice guy and he won't just immediately change like that, I'm just saying

Some people might not be able to donate and pay for extra stuff like this but they want to do it so they can talk about cubs, I know we didn't do as much as expected last period but how do we know how much people have donated?? That also brings us back that everyone might not have that extra money so that wouldn't be the best idea

I'm not trying to be mean or rude and argue, I'm just trying to say how it's not the best idea

As I said it is an option to be considered , not set in concrete , or , we could consider an annual membership fee that I noted Sargeant has listed for other forums in one of his posts
This site was run by Mr Roland Bedell who passed away last year and from what I am seeing he pretty much subsidized the site , yes there was some donations and yes there was some advertising revenue but now without Mr Bedells contribution we as members are going to find some way to maintain , improve and keep the forum running
If you come up with a better idea to raise revenue please post it

See Sargeants post in this thread

I'm hopeful that there are members/supporters who will come forward now that they know Roland is no longer subsidizing his passion and ours, so that it will be self sustaining.
We always try to promote our sponsors at the "top of the page"
And we give recommendations to many suppliers of "parts/fasteners/kits"
that we have used and find a good value.
It isn't like we would be asking for large amounts, more like beer/coffee/lunch monies.
We just have to get the word out,
and be upfront so the donations have transparency.
Hell,
we talk up Fastenal, motion industries, Granger, xtreme parts.
And ebay sellers like I save tractors, Batforkids, D&B electrical on and on just to name a few.
If they just gave $10 now and then to keep the lights on, possibly a notation at the top of the page.
Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
