I have 15 total cubs and do not regret it. I have 7 that run and I can say I do not have a favorite. I use them all and I only have 1 acre and a small yard in front and back. It’s just fun for me to use a different tractor all the time.

Lightbulb

I have 10 and they all function as they should. I rotate them to prevent one from sitting too long.

I got the deck off and power washed the grime off it so I can disassemble the center spindle after work today. I haven't actually looked at the parts myself but I do like the design of the cone bearings you can disassemble everything rather than the all in one bearing and shaft of the later decks.
It is missing the bent diverter piece on the underside to direct the clippings but other than that and one spot where something struck the back side and it rusted through It looks very solid.
I know that Bullpen10 on ebay (about 2 hrs away from me) sells a stainless body for the later triangle decks, has anyone heard of somebody fabricating stainless body panels for the 60s decks?

And don't forget to patronize our sponsors, buy a good manual. And if you run into a problem, take a picture, throw the question out here. Many knowledgeable guys here, happy to help.

Going to take the deck apart and see what I need for the center spindle, it's really loose.
2, if they all look like that you need 3+

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
