GT2550 PTO Deck Drive Belt Breaking
Belt from clutch that drives the mower deck keeps breaking. I don't see any reason this should keep happening.
Help. Thanks.

I have a GT2550 and so long as you have the correct belt , would not use aftermarket
The belt goes over the clutch V in then down to 2 pulleys with a 90% twist V in , across bottom of mower with another 90% twist thence over the deck drive spindle V in Then tension belt using lever If your belt is installed like that it should work properly , if it is installed correctly you must have a problem with the various deck spindles (blade and drive) The break is it a snap or a cut type break ?? Now that’s funny
Not quite sure what my wife says either My uncles mower He uses CC belts I’ll check all pulleys and bearings and then go mowing and hopefully not find mode of failure Thanks for replying!

Thanks for posting the pics. Looking from the the front the left mule drive pulley is a bit to the inside but really nothing to be done about it. Everything spins free.
Belt on deck seems too loose and vibrates a lot. This is a long shot but maybe I'll replace that one to see if it takes some of the vibration out of the PTO belt. Appreciate your help.

I'll through out another check,
ALL the pulleys should be "V" shaped not "U" shaped from wear, including and especially, the drive clutch. As the pulleys wear, they tend to cause the sharp "V" of the belt bottom to loose their edges and mimic the "U" shape of the worm pulleys. Well, pretty quick the belt rolls over in the pulley, because it begins to look like a rope and destroys itself. BTDT saw it many times. The 1/4 twists the belts makes, causes the wear, its just the nature of that style of drive.
