spray paint choices?
I’m getting ready to do some painting of parts. The guy that I bought my 1650 from says he used Cub Cadet Paint to redo it. Those cans are like $15 bucks a pop and I have to order them. From the same place they sell IH/case paint at about $1 cheaper. I have a TSC in town that I can get the Valspar Cub cadet paint at and it’s only like $5 a can. I’m not going for a restore but I want a nice durable paint to go on it. I know auto paint will do way better than rattle cans but rattle cans is what I get to work with on a daily driver. So is the CC paint worth the 3x price tag. How close is the Valspar paint to the cub cadet paint? Know it probably would not match up painting a tower then a fender with two different brands. Though say rims compared to fenders is it close enough with the parts not being side by side?

I tried the Valspar, and it's close to a faded out tractor, but the Cub paint is much better, more money, but it's your dollar.

Valspar CC Yellow = wrong color for an IH Cub Cadet...it is sort of orange and matches the newer 2000 series tractors.

The "biege" or cub cadet white that TSC sells is close enough to the earlier IH cubs to be a close match, but not for the brighter white of the late '60's/early 70's models. The cub cadet yellow has more orange in it, as Matt has already stated, and it is quite a stark contrast to the original paint on the IH models.

I didn't realize there were 3 "900" series white paints used Matt. Damn! Learn something new everyday! I should check again which one I bought in a spray bomb to paint my sleeve hitch. Was going to use the same can to touch up the front rims on my 100....might have to change my mind on that one possibly depending on which one I had bought. If I didn't want to sand blast my front rims....you guys have had success on just roughing up the paint with sand paper and cleaning off any surface rust before prime & paint??

+1 to what Matt said about the TSC white matching the 1X8/9 series. I used a can to paint the housing grill on my 108, matches perfectly. I used a can of the TSC CC yellow in battery housing, it's definitly more orange than yellow. I wouldn't use it anywhere that it will show.

Ok so TSC CC yellow is worng, but the white works on the 1x8/9 through 82 series, correvt (im working on a 1650) When yall talk of the TSC paint are you referring to the Valspar tractor and implement paint they sell in the rattle can? I just called the Case dealer in town and all they have is John Deere yellow, WTF! and no white. i dont have a CC dealer here either. while im at it, what is a good primer to use as a base. I just got a new blast cabinet so the heavy parts will be nice and clean.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
