the weather was perfect so i hooked up my plow to my now running 129 and had a ball. i first tried it out with my 23x10.5 turfs and it went ok but the tires are to wide so i put on some 23x8.5 turfs, double wheel weights, and chains, and got after it. i had never used a plow before but it went so well that i doubled the size of my vegetable patch.

I hope to being doing some plowing soon! Got pick up some new toys next weekend! Pictures and hopefully video's to follow! |
The steering's been getting harder on the 124, so yesterday I put it up in the front, tore down the front end, and the axle.
All the grease was dried up. I modified the front pin for the axle when I had the engine out last....I put a 3/4" OD, 1/2" ID bronze bushing all the way through, then a shouldered 1/2" bolt with a Lock nut. The bolt goes in through the front, nut in the rear. Makes things alot easier. So, all greased up, and back together. Much better. I'm going to be putting bearings on the spindles soon, top and bottom....but haven't had the time. Oh, and I made a spring assist....did it WF style. Bolts to the deck lift arm. Then made a strong angle bracket and bolted it on the side of the seat support panel. No, long angle rod needed....put it low so to tighten it, I use a socket on an extension, under the 3pt lift arm.....Chain with a shackle to the arm, then a 12" heavy spring from the chain to a eye-bolt. Woks nice....cost nothing. |

Can you leave the gearbox on year round, will it interfere with the plow or anything? |
yes, that is a gear box and i had wondered if it would be a problem. in some areas the furrow was deep enough that i was pushing dirt with the mule drive. i have the PTO set correctly and disengaged so the belt does not move. if it did then it would be chewing up everything in its path and that would be a problem.

Hauled some limbs to the woods. Had some bad storms late Sunday night, into early Monday morning. Eight tornadoes were reported in NC. Sorry, no pics this time.
