Congrats to both of you. My wife does not hunt but does help with the processing and she does do the cooking.

Well she cooks it, that's a good start. My wife never thought of shooting anything when we met, but all that changed, now I think she could be considered an addict.

My son had to show me how to hunt!

I just found this thread so I had to contribute!

I've been whitetail hunting now for 30+ years. In that time the best rack I've been able to put on the wall is an 8 point. My son was able to hunt his first youth hunt last year. Well, the little rascal had two 8 pointers walk out in after about an hour in the shanty.

Then regular season comes around and all I can muster this year is a 5 point. So what does my son do... he goes out with me on the weekend following the opener and gets another 8 pointer! Sheesh!! :bash2: Here is his two bucks!

Your son has himself a horseshoe, you best take him with you next time.

He sure does! We were out over the weekend scouting and we saw a 9 pointer in the same spot! Still lots of velvet, maybe a 10 pointer by the youth hunt... He said at the end of last years hunt he'd drop a 10 this year... he just might! All I can see are $$$ with our taxidermist! Oh well...

Around here they have another three weeks of growing to do yet, but it won't be much more than they already have, maybe a little more tine length. I got mine back from the taxidermist Fri.

By the looks of that beast you must have a lot of farms in the area or a very good food plot! We have way too many deer where I hunt to grow them like that! Very nice!! :beerchug:
