Looking good Allen!:beerchug:

Fenders for #2?! Nice!

johncub7172 05-01-2012 08:28 PM

I agree with Mike, Looking good! I dont think you will let chains run with the fenders if fenders are set with the 10.5 inch wheelwell.

Diz Jr. 05-01-2012 08:49 PM

The 100's look great ACecil

ACecil 05-01-2012 09:13 PM

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!

ACecil 05-01-2012 09:13 PM

Duke, the fenders will be here next week. :beerchug:

The "o" got some new front tires.... the wheelbarrow treads are off... and heading for a wheelbarrow! These are highway tread type 4 ply 4.8x8s. They sure steer nice. Even the flamingos approve :-)

Today, I got the K341 home from having it rebuilt. Might get it dropped in the 1200 this weekend...After installing the new clutch spring, and steel ISO mounts. :beerchug:

Also got my 2165 going, and got to mow with it...after MANY calls to my buddy who works at the dealer! :beerchug: :biggrin2:

Really like this machine!

ACecil 05-05-2012 12:55 AM

Cool deal, Conner! My wife loves her 2130, it's a mowing machine.

Wild Bill 05-05-2012 01:18 AM

Tonight the 1712 came back to life!

I fired up the engine, checked the iginition with my timing light, set the idle and high speed RPMs with my STIHL digital tach, then I let it idle for 5 minutes, and immediatly drained the oil... After sitting for a few minutes, a tilt of the catch pan showed that I 'did the right thing'-metal flecks!

I refilled with fresh NAP-o-line 30wt non-detergent, fired it up again, fiddled with carb settings again. I'm letting it sit overnight to cool, and then I'll retorque the head bolts.

Methos 05-05-2012 01:21 AM

Conner and Bill

Awesome news in the engine department!

ACecil 05-05-2012 09:43 AM

That's awesome, Bill!

Diz Jr. 05-06-2012 09:36 AM

Spent a few hours on the 149 yesterday.
Got all the mowing done.

Then it was time for a much needed bath. I had got into a little mud and was just hosing it off. The Daughter grabbed a bucket & brush and give it a good scrubbing :biggrin2: It needed it.

darkminion_17 05-06-2012 10:31 AM

Worked on the 71 to fix a broken teaser spring on the clutch. After looking at I replaced the disc and the plates with it right on the tractor. The drive shaft and t.o. bearing were good so It left them be.

Nice work on the clutch darkminion_17

Methos 05-06-2012 01:31 PM

Great pics Diz and Lew!

Diz great seeing you've got your own cleaning crew to help you keep the 149 sparkling clean.:beerchug:

Lew That looks like more work leaving it in the 71.:bigthink: Please share your tips and tricks!

darkminion_17 05-06-2012 02:10 PM

Remove spark plug wire.
Then set the brake pedal.
Then remove the 2 roll pins on the clutch shaft holding the plates on first, then the engine mounting bolts.
Then the 3 pin driver bolts.
Loosen the turnbuckle on the pto arm and remove.
Then loosen, but don't remove the two back bolts on the grill housing. It tips it back for more room when sliding the motor back.
Slide motor back and turn it to the right side slightly.
Then remove the driver, pressure plate, disc, pressure plate and teaser spring.

Be sure to put the bolts back in the driver before reassembly of the clutch plates and disc.

Time,4 adult beverages.

Would 4 pepsi work?

Lew thanks for the info going to try that next time I work on a clutch.

darkminion_17 05-06-2012 03:28 PM

Yes it would.
This instance the t.o. bearing and drive shaft were in great shape, otherwise I would have pulled the entire assembly out.
This works for narrow frames mostly.Wide frames I have done the same way.
I am sure a ql would be more work.Prolly easier to remove the whole clutch assembly to be sure everything or any part needs to be replaced.

I had a good cub weekend I got ih wheel weight from a member and went a swap meet and bought 50lbs weights for 10$ and a nice set of 23x10.50-12 for 10$ and a cub 70 or 71 or 72 that i got for FREE! I have not seen the tractor but it does not have a motor or steering.

Today I got the 1712 buttoned up, and back in service :beerchug:

I had to pull the 50C deck from under the 1450, so I swapped the center pulley, moved the front deck hanger, sharpened the Gator blades, and greased the spindles.

I also put a 44A deck back together with the center pulley, sharpened the Gator blades, and greased the spindles....and mounted it under the 1450.

Then my wife jumped on the 1450 to start mowing, and I took the 1712 on it's maiden voyage. After a few laps, I decided everything was OK with the engine, so I changed tractors with my wife, and she put the 1712 through a workout.

As soon as we got done mowing, I drained the oil out of the 1712 (for the 3rd time) and refilled with fresh 30wt.....still just a tiny bit of metal flecks in the oil, so after we mow again I'll do another oil change, and we should be good to go :bigthink:

It was cool seeing the new oil pressure guage do it's thing. The freshened engine was putting out 65PSI with 'cold' oil, and once it was good and warm, it was running at 25-30 PSI......right within Kohler's spec.

Using a 50C and 44A deck VS just a 50C deck, cut the mowing time from 3.5 hours to 1.5 hours :beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug:

I would bet it is more fun, too!! :bigthink:

ACecil 05-06-2012 10:14 PM

Everyone has been busy! Jenn and I, mowed the yard. Then got 100 #2 out for some seat time.

dieseldan123 05-06-2012 10:35 PM

Finally got the steering wheel broke lose on the 126 and removed it and the fiberglass dash today. Learned that by filling the wheel with water, and applying half a can of PB blaster so it settles completely around threads, and let it sit out in the 95 degree sun during the middle of the day and it just pops off! Also working on the front end to remove some of the slop from the axle pin and the steering knuckle, the column itself is nice and tight suprisingly!

Sam your pic didn't come thru:bigthink:

Sweet deals tho!

Methos 05-07-2012 01:08 AM

Bill, Dan and CAD glad ya got everything done!

Methos 05-07-2012 01:25 AM

I replaced the ISO mounts on the 1650 today. The fan was broke so I got one off the shelf and installed it. The bushing ball was worn so bad it was flopping around and the only thing holding it in place was the rag joint! One of the holes on the rag joint was torn so I got to it at just in time before the rag joint gave out.:OhOh: I installed a new autolite 216 while I was at it and changed the oil. I changed out the pto cutch as it was always engaged. Once I double checked the air gap I and seen it was set right I changed it out. It's good to have spare parts!

I want to thank Todd aka Oak for hooking me up with the bushing balls last year. Thanks Buddy!:beer2:
