Had a good shop day today, weather was awesome for Jan 25th, 72 here.
Got the old CH18 ready to go into the JD. Pulled the drive shaft and the steering shaft. Removed the wiring harness. I had noticed that it steered much harder than it should, the CV joint in the steering shaft was almost rusted solid, worst one I've ever seen, I can fix it, I have enough salvaged parts from a prior organ donor. Most of the electrical connections were badly corroded as I expected. I'll make my own harness. All in all I'm very happy with the condition. Should make a nice grass killer. :beerchug:

On another note a local guy picked up the snow blower that I had advertised for a friend. :beerchug:

Looks like the weather is going to be crappy for a while so probably no more progress for a while. :bash2:

Wow I was reading down over this thread. Perry equipment is only minutes from my house. You got that from my back yard, and I got my 1641 in Virginia last weekend. I went to pick it up though. I borrowed my father in laws trailer and in Maryland off halfway blvd one tire threw the valve stem and went flat getting off 81 to find food. I replaced it with the spare which also had a broken valve stem. That was a fun afternoon in the rain.

There's an 1864 on Craigslist in great falls va, near Reston for $1100. Looks like it's in good shape. Too rich for my blood though.

Today the wife's JD donated it's CH22 to the 1864 project. The Ch22 is out and the CH18 is back in. Just a few little things to finish up and the JD will be done then I can get serious on the 1864/2264. :beerchug:

Looking good Sam!:beerchug:

You sure that CH18 will move that Deere with a bed full of sh!+?:bigthink::biggrin2:

sorner, I just looked at the 1864 in great falls, looks like he upped it to $1250!

The Mag 12 that was in the JD before was enough power so the CH18 should do the job. The JD doesn't haul Chit, just mulch. :biggrin2:

The 1864 gets one more trip to the pressure washer then it's reassemble time. :beerchug:

To heck with the lift, I want to know what the sign hanging above it says! I'm sure its OSHA regulations or a reminder not to put his greasy work clothes in with the family laundry.:biggrin2:

Lew, I'm old and my back has seen better days. Without the lift I wouldn't even dream of doing what I'm doing. The days of working on my back with jack stands are long gone. :beerchug:

John, the hanging sign is from my racing days and trust me it has nothing to do with OSHA. It pertained to the fact that I and a few friends raced PU trucks and used to whip the butts of the sporty car guys. Granted the trucks were full tube frame race cars but our stuff was under $20,000 compared to $200,000+ for the sporty car kids. Quote from a Ferrari guy " Da Mustsa Be Somting Wrong With The Da F-40, I'm a Goin Down The Back Straight and I Got Passed By a F--Kin Pickup" yep sucks to be you. :biggrin2:
