ACecil 12-11-2009 01:27 PM

Great pic, mudpup! The 70 and #2 cart are cool! :beerchug:

I had to get some seat time in, so I hauled one branch to the woods...LOL. Plus, I had to try the backrest out. :biggrin2.gif:

merk. did you custom fit that generator on your 149. my dad just got one that looks just like that and has a little techumse " i think". if you did make it fit let me know how you did it. thanks
The framework is a custom build. I modified a mule drive and built the rest. Here are a few pictures.
This is a alternator:

http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...Dude/gen12.jpg

You have to watch the ones that have the generator/alternator as one unit. The shaft on the generator/alternator is tapered. This alternator was designed to be mounted to a garden tractor like I have it.

Diz Jr. 12-11-2009 06:51 PM

mudpup,
Thats a good Cub that will start when its 3 degrees :biggrin2.gif:

ACecil,

Looks like a good one!

Matt G. 12-12-2009 10:24 PM

I changed grille castings on the 782 (it now has a red one to match the rest of the tractor) and put on the weights, chains, and QA-36A. I put a new U-joint on the chute rotator. Tomorrow I'll pull my new-to-me 70 into the garage and try to get it fixed up, and I gotta drag 582 #2 back into the garage and finish it. I've also gotta go look at a 682 soon.

CBH 12-12-2009 10:31 PM

Matt...it seems that you always have a Cub project in the works!
We like photos!!

ACecil 12-12-2009 10:38 PM

Here's the 782 all ready for winter...

The 70 is now in the garage and in a few large pieces. The shifter is broken and needs welding, the gas tank leaks, and the PTO clutch is trashed. Hopefully I can fix most of that over the next couple of days.

ACecil 12-13-2009 05:53 PM

Your 782 looks great, Matt! :beerchug:

juniors1282 12-13-2009 11:26 PM

Great deal on the plow bignastygs. Mine looked worse than that when I bought it, I got mine for 50 bucks with no connecting rod, so I went with chain. That one will look as good as mine with a nice fresh coat of paint. Looking forward to seeing it then. I here you about the red ones, went looking at cubs today at pattonacres with my heart set on buying a 70, 100, or an original. After looking around for a while Rich has a bunch of red one sitting there begging to be restored now I can't decide what I want to work on next. Good luck painting your blade and can't wait to see it. Junior

mstetar 12-14-2009 04:19 PM

you should buy that 106 off of me lol :beerchug:

papaglide 12-14-2009 07:09 PM

I am partial to the red ones myself and would like to get my mits on a 682, 782 or a 982.

Matt: the 782 is looking good. How did school go?

bignastygs: good deal man.:beerchug:

Matt G. 12-14-2009 07:25 PM

Papaglide:

Better than I expected, as I took too many classes. All is well, and it's great to be home and out in the garage again... :)

krisb 12-14-2009 09:43 PM

I think I like the looks of your 100.....and I also think that I like the looks of the grass it's on! I did get some Cub time yesterday when I cleared the driveway with the help of the 124. No action shots from yesterday...but here's a shot I took today. We've had enough winter already.

ACecil 12-20-2009 05:31 PM

Thanks for the comments, guys! :beerchug:

CBH: That's a nice snow pic.

eastonct124 12-20-2009 11:04 PM

Today, I got my 124 stuck for the first time!!!
Decided to do some romping through the forest, through the snow.

Note to self: Before offroading cub, remove tiller front mule.

Went down the hill (45deg, 5' high) that ends at the small crick.....half way through the crick, tractor stopped. So, I figured give it a go, get the front wheels up on the bank.
Rears instantly spun, dug the back in deeper in seconds.

The rear diff is sitting on a rock, the rear wheels not touching......water is now up to the foot rests.

Darn mule drive was smack against a rock, under water...couldn't see it.

After 1/2 hour, with my son helping, I gave up.

I'll snap a photo of this hysterical debauchery tomorrow when I go to yank it out with the winch.

My 11 year old was laughing, and cracking wise comments.

I didn't even think about it.....dumb.

ACecil 12-20-2009 11:41 PM

Thanks Bill!

eastonct124 12-20-2009 11:48 PM

Mine was, I do it all the time in warmer weather.
But it' not really a creek, it's the flow from the three springs bubbling up in a section of my property.

I think it was a marsh that was filled in during the farming days (1650-1890's) here. Because the silt is only a few inches (6-12" in some places), and there's field stones under the silt...so going through it with a loaded trailer is never an issue without snow....the snow covered the larger rocks that I would have navigated around.

I need to go through it to access the areas I cut timber in.

IHinIN 12-21-2009 08:04 PM

Today I picked up a couple headlights and a switch for my Cub from TSC and got the holes cut in the headlight panel. The closest holesaw I could find was 3 7/8" so I'll have to enlarge the holes a little with a die grinder till the bulbs fit. I need to make the retainers yet to hold the bulbs in the panel. I was able to get the dimensions for the retainers from a guy at work. I'll post some pics when I get them done.

medic75 12-23-2009 11:37 AM

We finally got enough snow that I could fire up my 782 with the converted 451 snow blower. Cleared the few inches we got away from the driveway and it seemed to work quite well. It doesn't have the distance of my Ariens 22" walk behind, but it cleared the main driveway in 4 passes instead of the 8 needed for the walk behind. I'm waiting for some real accumulation before I judge it any more.

Now I'm wishing I had a longer driveway, though I'm sure I will no longer feel that way by March.
