Today,(less than 5 minutes ago) I repaired my sons 149. Seems the valve that pushes the oil to the lift cylinder took a dump. I replaced it with one from a parts 1450 we have laying around. Had to swap the o-rings and fitting from straight ones to 90's,but it went on with no ill effects. Now I have to tack weld the lift arm as the pin hole is destroyed and I can finish it up tomorrow.Maybe I can use my Cub to push the snow the next storm, instead of the JD 165 which I just finished up cleaning the carb out of,It's been a good reliable unit though, just not as cool looking as the 1200..

Matt G. 12-23-2009 07:39 PM

Don't throw that malfunctioning valve away...usually the problem is bad O-rings, which are fairly simple to replace.

bignastyGS 12-23-2009 08:24 PM

Matt, I took the center piece of the valve out and I noticed the o ring on the lower side was bad. Planning on getting replacement O rings and trying it. I have to do some researching to see if they have a kit or at least a dimension of the o rings. I hate to toss things until I find out it can't be replaced or fixed. I don't have a local Cub dealer, but have a good friend who deals with dealers and hopefully he can hook me up. I am just glad the part on the trans wasn't the culprit..

camarokidz28, congrats on the 100s but do us a favor and get rid of the JD seat. lol

Got my headlights in today. Now I need to get them wired up. Welding on the retainer studs toasted the decal so for now I'm gonna paint the panel white till I repaint the tractor and get new decals.

ACecil 12-23-2009 11:34 PM

Great job on your headlights, IHinIN! :IH Trusted Hand:

70

Been real busy @ work, I put the Christmas party awards on and last minute jobs people want done before the holidays. BUT I did pick up a CC 70 around Thanks Giving. Just this week I got it in place for restoration. I've got the engine out, head off and the front frame off. Jimmy my son has a 102 he is restoring, I would like to try to get both engines rebuilt at the same time. I've got a lot of time off this week and next, the kids are out of school, so we'll get a good start on both tractors. Let me guess... you want pictures? Well I've been taking a few as I go- the camera is frozen shut in the truck-ICE STORM!!

A week ago, I got my 124 stuck in 2' of muck, and left it. Christmas day, my boy and I broke up the ice that was now encloseing it, and with a steel pole, and blocks lifted one wheel ata time to get some field stone underneath for traction. Once out, we turned it around, then filled the area below with sticks and logs...and blasted through, then up the 45deg hill (5' high).
Had to do it in one shot.

My son drove, I stood on the tow hitch for weight. He really liked the hill climb.

Diz Jr. 12-26-2009 09:19 AM

eastonct124,

Glad to see you got it out :biggrin2.gif:
Nice hole you had going there.

I decided to warm up the garage today and put the decals on the 1811 that I recently redid.

Matt G. 12-26-2009 11:21 PM

Let's see...I spent a bunch of time working on my 782 trying to get the thrower belt tensioned right...I blew snow for half and hour, only to smell the belt. I've made some adjustments and added a locking setscrew to the pulley that seems to keep coming loose, despite being loctited. I still think my belt is a touch too long. I guess we'll find out tomorrow when I clear the 8" of snow off the driveway.

ACecil 12-26-2009 11:50 PM

Your 1811 looks great, aagitch! You did an excellent job on it.

ACecil 12-27-2009 05:21 PM

Got some more seat time today. Had more leaves to rake up, I had a great time!

Finished removing the roll pin from Dustin's 149,put a new hydro fan on and reassembled it to the point of all I need to do is drive the replacement roll pin in then it's heading back to it's home. Then I got most of the garages overhead lights wired. Just need about 1-2 hours and they will be on switches.Even got some JD repairs in as well..

Diz Jr. 12-27-2009 07:31 PM

Nice pictures of the 1811 aagitch

ACecil,
Cool pictures of the 100 and cart :Thanks:

krisb 12-28-2009 01:05 AM

Awesome 1811 aagitch

ACecil I love the dual Ag's

Last night it snowed, and I woke up to a winter wonderland. Unfortunately being sick with the flue and having to go to work put a damper on things. I got some seat time in though before I left for work. I plowed my driveway and my elderly neighbors drive way, which is all I had time for. I usually do about 6 more driveways and was planning to when I got off this evening, but the flue took its toll on me and all I wanted to do was sit down in my recliner with the space heater going full blast.

I found that my temporary modification to the seat to make more room really increased my comfort. Nice not having the steering wheel in my gut. I bought myself a new camera for Christmas and as soon as I feel up to it, I am going to play around with it and get some new shots of the Cub. Only problem is the excellent photographic quality of the camera will only highlight how rough my Cub is in places. I guess I will just have to think of the imperfections and blemishes as 'Character".

IHinIN 12-28-2009 12:26 PM

We had a couple inches of snow last night so this morning I got the Cub out and plowed the drifted snow from in front of the garages. Then I put down some salt with my homemade spreader. It works pretty good. It spreads it about 6-8 ft wide. I also got my headlights wired up so now I'm ready to plow in the dark.

Thanks krisb! :beerchug:

You guys have been busy.

I plowed my drive the the second time this season. Tire chains, the 200 Lb weight box and washer filled tires add a lot of grip.

Anyone ever added side boards on the end of the blade to turn the blades more into a snow pusher, like the blade you see attached onto loaders and backhoe that clean out parking lots. I could save a lot of time cleaning up if I did not have so much spillage from the blade.

ihnick: Thanks for the pics of your 129 and #2 cart.

bignastyGS 12-28-2009 07:23 PM

I think I'm needing one of those 129's...Nice wood hauling rig!

Diz Jr. 12-28-2009 07:58 PM

Pulled the Engine out of the 169 today. Needed to replace the oil pan. Old aluminum one had some damaged threads. Put a Cast iron oil pan on. While i was in there i removed the balance gears. They were really sloppy. I don't know how they had stayed in there. When i pulled the one off of the shaft a couple of the little bearings fell out.
