Yeah, really...I can see the floor...lol

I'm reluctant to post a picture of the organized chaos we call a garage here...

Diz Jr. 12-28-2009 10:43 PM

Thanks guys :Salute:

ihnick 12-28-2009 11:27 PM

ACecil 12-29-2009 12:34 AM

Ain't nothing like some good ole seat time, is there, Bill?

Matt G. 12-29-2009 12:38 AM

I figured out that a 33" belt is too short for the thrower on my 782...I guess we'll try a 34"...

I got a new cover for my seat. The old one was ugly and worn out. In the spring I plan on having the seat pan recovered. It's the style of pan that has the edge that crimps over the material.

I also added an ammeter to make sure my generator can keep up with the lights and salt spreader running. The switch on the right is for the spreader.

camarokidz28 12-29-2009 06:44 PM

Snow blowing blues

We got some drifts yesterday in front of the shed . Went and got the 109 with snow blower on and fired up . Blew half of the drift , then the belt blew into 5 pieces . we fineshed with the 126 and 106 . Guess the warrenty was up on that belt .

ACecil 12-29-2009 07:08 PM

Great looking seat cover, and I really like your ammeter, IHinIN . :beerchug:

Diz Jr. 12-29-2009 09:56 PM

Nice work IHinIN

camarokidz28 , Always nice to have a backup huh? :biggrin2.gif:

I put 1 inch spindles on my 169 today. Got the spindles off of e-bay.
I like to weld some plates to the sides to beef them up a little.
http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...2-29-09003.jpg

Jacked up and removed the old 3/4" ones.
http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...2-29-09002.jpg

New ones painted and installed.

Great work, Diz! Your 169 looks awesome!

ihnick 12-29-2009 11:37 PM

quick question diz. whats that little chain on your pto lever? i wish my 169 was running

Diz Jr. 12-30-2009 12:30 AM

:Thanks: ACecil

ihnick,
The chain is welded to my P.T.O. disengagement device :biggrin2.gif:

The handle has a good bit of wear in it. It wouldnt fully disengage the p.t.o. unless you held it back tight. You drop this wedge in there and it keeps the handle back. I made one for the 149 and 169

I wish I could weld that good. I got a wire feed and a stick welder but just haven't taken the time to learn how to use them.:bigthink:Guess it's about time!!:BlahBlah:

I added some side boards to my snow blade so that I can push more snow without the spillage. It is similar to the "Sno Pushers" you see clearing parking lots. Most of my snow gets push straight forward. Just tried it out on one inch of snow, and never even filled it up. Works pretty good for being made with left over wood and parts. I can quickly remove it and put it on as needed. I added some steel skid plates since the picture was take.

CBH 01-01-2010 08:57 PM

That certainly is "different" ! As long as it works..............right? :beerchug:

Diz Jr. 01-02-2010 01:01 AM

Great idea dieselsnowmobile

bignastyGS 01-02-2010 07:17 PM

Tonight, I bought a complete spring assist for 75 bucks in nice shape for my 1200. I also got a good deal on a headlight switch for it as well. Hooked up the switch and Voila'...I now have seeing eyeballs on the old girl!! Still need to get me a fuse holder so I can hook the PTO back up as I only had one fuse holder and used it for now for the lights. Need to locate some rear lights as well.Gotta email Matt about the steering wheel center cap too...

mstetar 01-02-2010 09:48 PM

Me Matt? i emailed someone about a QL steering wheel cap a few days ago and never got a responce... if it wasnt you $20 to your door!

Yes,
You are the Matt. I just got a new laptop for X-Mas and have been having email trouble(operator error) so I may be a little slow catching up. I am looking for the triangular one not the rectangular type. I'll email you in a little to get the specifics worked out.

edw 01-03-2010 10:45 AM

8* 122 did start this morning slow and cold natured but did start now if had some snow to push would be all set

medic75 01-05-2010 10:47 AM

Snapped a shear bolt in the snowblower on Saturday. Got to the store and bought a few new ones yesterday (while my neighbor used his simplicity to clean my driveway :crap: ). Today - try to find a way to beat the old shear bolt out and get the blower going again

medic75 01-05-2010 07:02 PM

Finally got the shear bolt out. After beating it and using some PB Blaster, I finally gave in and got the drill out. Anyway, that worked great and I'm back in business.

I finally got a belt back on my 782/QA36A. It's a bit shorter than the OEM belt, but I should be able to tighten it properly. I also moved the pulley on the thrower a bit to realign the pulleys, as something changes when the belt is tightened and they don't line up after tightening the belt. I also ordered a pair of front tires that I'll swap between my 782, 782D, and 582 as needed :biggrin2.gif:

bignastyGS 01-05-2010 08:13 PM

Today, I made a rear wiring harness an installed my taillights and got all the lights working. Had to get a different headlight switch as the one I bought a few weeks ago was no good.I then started used my torches and started cutting out the center plates so I can attach my wheel weights on the inside of the wheels like Merk did. I don't have IH ones but I am using barbell 10 lb ones slid over a 1 inch thread rod shaft. Should have them all smoothed and ready to weld the thread rod and paint by the end of the weekend.Waiting on a set of the frame bushings so I can add my 3 point hitch setup as well I need a rear plow and the bracketry yet..

Merk 01-05-2010 08:28 PM

I started the restoration on my 800 Saturday. This is what it used to look like:

Merk,
I started on Dustin's 800 and am in need of the gasket that goes between the carb and air filter housing. Do you know a source for them? Was told a Kohler from a Deere had the same one...

Matt G. 01-05-2010 09:39 PM

I don't see why you can't get it anywhere that carries Kohler parts. The number is KH-41-041-11. Tulsa Engine Warehouse and Cub Cadet both have it...not sure why you need to go to a JD dealer.

Same gasket.
Any small motor shop that works on Kohlers can get you the gasket. My local NAPA store is a good source for Kohler parts. Most NAPA stores have or can get you small motor parts. My Son used to work in a small motor shop. I still get Kohler parts from them.

I like to buy parts for my Cubs locally. I will get parts from the sponsors on the top of the page if they are not available locally.

ACecil 01-05-2010 11:08 PM

Great pic, medic75! :beerchug:

Good luck, on your 800, Dale. I know it will be sharp, after you are done with it!

eastonct124 01-06-2010 12:15 AM

I actually CLEANED MY GARAGE today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!

The 124, is now backed in, at my work area.
The 64' Broadmoor, is neatly parked in the corner with the front axle on a moving dolly (wheels went on the 124)
And the push mower is about to have it's carb cleaned, and a tune up...ready for spring.

And the wife is happy. I can now leave the garage door open, and she's not embarassed. :biggrin2.gif:

ajgross 01-06-2010 04:14 AM

Well today I thought about moving the 782 out of the yard and down to the basement so I can begin to tear it down, but realized it was just too cold.

So I finally got some decent seat time. I got some last week but I was sick as all get out with the flue. Just important as good seat time, I got to play with my new camera this time.

My blade has snow stick to it too, I just drop in on the ground hard a couple of times next to the snow pile and typically comes right off.

Cant really do that with the hydraulic lifted blade. I just hit it with a broom and it comes off.
