looks like you had fun. I just got in from pushin a little snow myself. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...91-7-10004.jpg http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...91-7-10003.jpg I am really loving these Tri-Rib front tires. What a difference steering in the snow. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...91-7-10008.jpg We actually got enough snow to get a good blade full this round :biggrin2.gif: http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...91-7-10007.jpg After i got done here i went over to my neighbors and cleaned his drive. |
Diz Jr. Must be nice to have snow to push . We got a 1/4 inch so far .
|
Great pics, Diz! I bet you had a great time.
|
camarokidz28,
This is the most we have had so far this winter. Supposed to be more comming tonite and tomorrow :biggrin2.gif: ACecil, I was having fun. The old 149 always starts up and goes to work when ever i need it., :IH Logo: You were right about those Tri-Rib front tires. I love them. |
How do you guys tackle the snow with your blades? Do you keep the blade pointed straight and make a pass down the center of what you are clearing and then use the edge of your blade on either side to clear more? Or do you turn your blade to either side then push? I personally keep the blade straight and just work my way side to side. I dont care for getting on and off the tractor to adjust the blade and most of the time I am pushing the snow straight out from what I am plowing.
I have experienced loss of traction with my front tires too. I get plenty with my rear. Quite a few times today I had the front wheels cranked to either side, but they just slid as the rear wheels dug in the pushed me straight. |
Depending on how deep the snow is , if its deep ( 8 inches plus ) I will plow stright and get most of it moved , then I will angle the blade and clean uo the rest . 8 0r less i angle plow . picture of last years snow

Glad you guys got to play in the snow. :beerchug:
Diz: I knew you'd like the tri ribs! They do steer nicely. |
harryold,
Nice pictures of the 127 and loader  camarokidz28, Glad to see you got enough snow to push. Wheres the Monster Blade? How many tractors do you have with blades this year? :biggrin2.gif: |
Diz Jr. There is not enough snow for the Monster Blade yet . We have 3 ready ,working on number 4 going be the 109 i had the snower blower on .Snow blowing is to slow for me . I like to see the snow roll of to the side when angled .

Plowed another 2-3 inches off the drive. I attached pics of my side boards in use. They work pretty good until the blade is well overloaded, then the blade starts to float and does not push all the snow, so I start out to get a good clean pass after going over it couple of times, and then work to one side. I really like since I do not have a good amount of space to roll the snow to the side and have room for more anyway. Plus, if I would, I would have to switch the direction half way, which is really annoying. As to can see, I push all my snow as far back as I can next to the fence to give me plenty of room for the next snow which is well beyond the pavement.

camarokidz28,
4-Tractors with blades, :Bowdown2: One for each direction :biggrin2.gif: I have never tried snow blowing but i do like to see that snow roll off the angled blade also :Woo: dieselsnowmobile, You can really pile it up with those side boards :beerchug: Nice pictures. |
Hey guys, good looking machines! It sure is enjoyable to get these old Cub Cadets out and move some snow. Don't you agree ? :High5:
|
Sure do CBH, I was just thinking about that last nite while i was out pushing snow. Its great to finally have a tractor with a couple of different attachments that you can change and use the tractor year around.

Great pics, dieselsnowmobile! Thanks for sharing. :beerchug:

I took the ags off of my 73 today...I would lose traction on my blacktop driveway when plowing uphill to the road, and evern sometimes, when it was flat. Put on my turfs with chain and what a world of difference. I drove the 73 around my yard and even tried taking it up a short, steep hill at just above idle...it dug, scratched, and pawed it's way up the hil, but just kept plugging along. I'll put the ags back on when it's time to plow the garden this spring. Oh yeah, I had 100# of weight on the tractor with both the chains and ags (even had the ags loaded).

Ran the snow blower on the 782 to make room for additional accumulation, though at this point, I don't want it.
Was surprised it started at -6. It took a jump from my Silverado to get it done, but it ran. Now it has a bad oil leak. |
Today, I installed my newest Cub piece on my 1200..Matt Stetar made me a deal on a steering wheel center cap and requested a pic...lolHere it is Matt...Thanks for the help!
http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2946Medium.jpg Also, took a couple of the headlights and taillights I recently installed.. http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2947Medium.jpg That seat pan bugs me! as soon as warm weather hits,I'm all over that with some sand paper, primer and white paint... http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2945Medium.jpg I also started the tear down of Dustins 800 getting ready to put it back to work duty... http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2948Medium.jpg http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2949Medium.jpg http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2955Medium.jpg http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2953Medium.jpg http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2950Medium.jpg |
yah... that does look much better on a real tractor... this is what it looked like on that crappy 1100
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...teeringcap.jpg |
The steering cap looks great, bignastyGS! Sharp 1200 you got there. :beerchug:
|
Yeah bignastyGS, it looks good. I'm really liking those front tires!
|
Today, I cleaned up some more on the 800 frame and motor, while I started loading my turf tires. I want to get a set of used chains and then use them to push snow.Dustin seems to grab alot better with the 10.50's and chains than my AG's on ice,but I whoop him on plain snow with the AG's.I am considering making my own chains out of a set of old truck chains and making them 2 link ones instead of 4 link ones..I can borrow the chain tool from work and assemble them.
|
My V-61 5-rib front tires arrived today...problem is, they're at home and I'm 1300 miles away at school again. Now I've got to wait 4 months and put them on in May when I'm home again.
|
Nice warm day here in MI 35 Degers out today , moved some snow wating for the next blast .
Diz JR will de getting out the monster blade this weekend . Will be down on seat time , might have to go sloooooow plowing . Going to put a set of chains on it to . |
camarokidz28
Get me some pictures :biggrin2.gif: You know i love to see pictures of the MONSTER BLADE in action Are you going to put chains on both sets of duals? |
First pic of 2010! The 100 has been sitting, since I hauled leaves in December. It fired right up! Not bad for sitting two weeks, so I went for a ride.
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/r..._0817Small.jpg |
Today, I received the rear bushings that weld to the frame that hold the 3 point hitch lever between the frame from Scott Murphy and I cleaned them up,welded them in and hooked the 3 point hitch up. Now I need to get me a used cheap Brinly adapter and I will be closer to plowing this spring...Also today, I had the weight brackets welded up for my custom rear wheel weights. I copied Merks idea and had a 1/2 plate cut out to fit inside the wheels and welded a 1 inch thread rod piece on so I could slide some barbell weights on. Tomorrow a buddy at work is making some 1/4 plates to cover the barbell weights. When the weather turns nicer,I'll paint them Cub white..

ACecil,
100 looks like it is enjoying getting a little sun. bignastyGS, Sounds like you are getting closer  |
Diz Jr. Got the MONSTER BLADE Out
Diz Jr. I am going to put chains on all the back tires . Wont be till i go next Saterday to pick the 70 he has 2 set's of 23 x 10 .50 x 12 chains . Here it is wating for snow
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...8/100_1158.jpg http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...8/100_1159.jpg |
That is one good looking tractor camarokidz28
It ought to be pretty much unstoppable with chains on all those tires :biggrin2.gif: That rig makes mine look like a toy :beerchug: |
Mounted the wheel weight brackets on the back today and cut the 1 inch thread rod flush with the nuts so they don't stick out. Decided to only put 4 10 lbers on each side, but I need to run to Dicks Sporting Goods and get 2 more. I like the way it came out and now need nice weather to be able to paint the whole deal..
If I am boring others, please say so...I am really enjoying working on these tractors anymore...It's a nice change and fun thing to do in the cold months.. |
Love hearing about your progress bignastyGS :beerchug:
|
Thanks for the pics, camarokid. Can't wait to see some action pics.
