pete240: If you decide to repower, I'm in the market for an M18 casting. My barrels are OK, but my governor busted out the #1 side of my casting --just saying.

You can indeed rebuild that cylinder and have it bored, but you might not like the cost of the pistons. New OEM ones are around $155 each and you would have to do both sides, other wise the engine will be out of balance. Your cheapest and easiest route is to find a good replacement.

I'm only finding vertical shaft m18's and others with unknown hours around me. I did start sourcing rebuild parts and am shocked at how much they are. I haven't called any shops to see what the machining costs would be.

I planned on using this tractor for snow. Its IH 682 with hydro lift and front ports added on. I could swap the m12 into it from my 1210 for the time being right?

you can use the vertical jugs & pistons in the horizontal engine.
I sure wouldn't downgrade to a M-12 single cyl engine.
