well bought the 2 for 300 bucks best i can tell the only thing missing on the one is the shoot turning rod and for some reason the shield over the drive shaft was cut and bent in to make room or clearance for something .
but said and done i don't need to walk around 2 throwers come spring but feel it was a fair deal. got the one on and gonna try it out tomorrow with the fresh light snow we got today only about 2 inches but new toy and all. thank you all for your help but i do have one other question... tires? i have the original tires on seem decent but would if possible like to stay away from chains. my driveway is paved do you think this is a possibility with weight and proper tires? what tires would you suggest? Ag? thanks again tony |

It really all depends on the conditions... Blowing cold powder, you can probably get by with loaded turfs or ag's, providing you don't have any hills to go up. It is my opinion, when it starts getting slick... If you don't have turfs and chains, you ain't going anywhere. |
I had turfs and weights on my 1250 with a plow. The least little grade got me stuck. Put the chains on and it's like a bulldozer. I poured a new concrete drive in the fall and worried about marking it up. I just go slow and make sure I don't spin the chains.

The single stage throwers work fine as long as you are WOT and your chute isn't rusted up. Some guys use teflon spray on their chutes to improve the slickness. Blades are nice if you plan on moving dirt/mulch/gravel. Your 129 will handle both well, and I would favor that one over the LT anytime. You already mentioned that it will be around longer, so why not prepare for the long term future!

wow let's just say today was a learning curve for me.
Maybe someone out there can point me in a better direction. I think if i would have tried last night it would have gone better the snow was light and it was very cold so it was dry. Today i had a few things to finish before i got to fire the old girl up till i got out there the sun was up and still cold but made the snow very wet and heavy. First round out shoot blocked up cleaned out blocked up mine still has the fingers at the discharge a friend told me i would be removing and he was right cleaned out got a few passes and blocked up it was so wet it was coming out in round blocks. I did find if i would push at a faster speed it wouldn't block as fast. also it wasn't a deep snow but worked great even without chains. Now is this what i am destine to? if it is a wet snow it's just about useless? also i had a knocking noise but i think that was just ice build up will check when it thaws out My discharge is somewhat rusty still paint on it but pitted is this my down fall? Also i saw the box where the shaft and chain come together on the left side rear of thrower moves is this normal or is something loose or worn? Any input is appreciated right now i feel like i made a $300 mistake Thanks Tony |

I had the same problem last year with the chute plugging up. It had the majority of paint still on it but was rusty. I sandblasted it and repainted, put on a good coat of wax, and it has worked great, Hasn't plugged up once. It now throwes it about 20-30 feet. I also changed the pulley on it from the 4.5" to a 3.5" cast one.

martyrant that is what i am doing the "getto"paint for now got the shoot off taking it to work with me and scuff and pant also going to do the discharge of the thrower too.
Come spring i think i'm gonna tear it down and paint the whole inside but for now we'll see how this goes. I also took the shaft and sprocket drive off to i think the looseness i felt was because the chain adjuster bolls were not tight against the block and the ends are mushroomed over some hope i can fix that might just replace the bolt head end is rounded off some too. may not do a full restoration but going to replace bolts strighten auger and paint come spring seems every other bolt i try to take off brakes Sparky40 did the pulley swap do much for the performance of the thrower? Also does anyone know how mush side play is normal in the sprocket support on the back side of the thrower? i have enought that if push all the way to the inside it starts to expose the needle berings this normal? Snow to sleet to freezing rain to plain rain in store for tomorrow got some down time Thanks again Tony |
