Bro called and said he was home and I should hot-foot it over there to get my new pride and joy.

I was really anxious to see it since a fuzzy photo covers a multitude of sins. :biggrin2:

Well, the ol' girl isn't terrible. Ain't pretty either!

There's a lot to work with, but a lot more to work ON. My younger one and I spent some time out in the garage tonight cleaning her up and doing some tinkering. I was really curious to see how that fender idea was going to shape up and I must say, I think it'll work pretty good. Something different for sure.

The big question is, exactly how to mount them. Not sure if I want to mount them higher or lower with the tires. I'll include a photo of both.

There will be some serious re-wiring going on since EVERY wire in that thing is now yellow! Brittle, cracked and yellow. I looked inside the tank and I swear, there were things lookin' back at me!

There are some severe fitment issues with the hood and the steering wheel/dash tower. It's like it's mounted about a 1/4 inch too far forward! It's all coming apart so we'll get to the bottom of it all soon enough. The nice thing is that we're not concerned at all about numbers and stuff. Just looking to make a nice tractor for the boy when we're done. He was really excited about it and wants to take the keys in to school to show his teacher who is also into Cubs. I think he's hooked.

Thanks!

Spent a few more minutes on the "O" and sorted a few more things out. Funny how POs (or current ones for that matter :biggrin2: ) will spend so much time "fixing" things by drilling, welding or cutting stuff, rather than putting it back together PROPERLY! :bash2:

For example. I put the throttle lever back into position. Since it was a long-distance endeavor, I saw the throttle lever was out of place, but didn't know if that was because someone replaced it for some reason and the new one didn't fit under the dash or ? THANKFULLY, they only drilled two more holes instead of cutting out the dash!

Turns out that the original throttle lever was still there, they just mounted it "outboard" for some reason! I'd say it was so that they didn't have to deal with the small screw that holds the wire, since it can be a bear to get loose/tight since you can't get a screwdriver on it right. But, wasn't it more of a hassle to drill two more holes? :bash2::bash2::bash2:

Sometimes, finding out "stuff" about our latest aquisitions is part of the fun! I "un-earthed" this jem which tells me that preventive-maintenance might not have been high on their list. When's the last time you've seen one of these belts? :biggrin2:

Also put a different hood on the ol' girl. Still kinda fits the "patina".

Our "O" had the same setup and I have seen pics of several others that the same thing was done.
