One thing on the mule drives and tillers.........
The mule drives for the decks have the pulleys at a slight angle due to the offset of the center drive pulley on the decks. The mule drives for the tillers had the pulleys straight, not angled. Now I used to run a #2 tiller on my 149. I used the 149's mower deck mule with the angled pulleys and didn't have any issues. The belt ran on it fine and never came off. So it is doable. Just remember those looooooong belts from CC are $85 last time I checked. Well worth the money and will last forever.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong..........

Sell it all except for the "best" 1811...get a 3pt and a self powered Cub tiller....

I honestly thought about that, well except for getting a rear powered tiller. Thing is, I want two around. It's especially helpful in the winter as I clear a good amount of snow. Sometimes I use a blade, sometimes I use a blower and it'd be a PITA to switch back and forth all the time. Then again, sometimes, I use both at the same time when I have help! :biggrin2:

Besides that, in the summer I have one dedicated mower, and one for "other" tasks; pulling a cart, aerating, de-thatching, etc, etc. (I know I could do it all with one machine, but where's the fun in that!? :beerchug:) And finally, I want to have a backup around. I know these things don't last forever so when one dies out, hopefully a long, long time from now, I want to be able to keep working without missing a beat.

So there, phew! That's why I want 2 around :biggrin2:

That being said, I've got a head gasket to replace on the 1450 hopefully sooner rather than later (finally got the part in), and I want to pull the carb apart AGAIN and clean it. If I can get the machine running smoother, I may keep it, who knows. It'd only get used really once a year when tilling so I may still get rid of it. It all really does come down to getting the tiller I have mounted to an 1811 so I'd need an adapter built or get lucky and find one online that costs less than a first born. :biggrin2:

I see the difference. I was aware of that but believed it would work. It may not. I know that the snowthrowers interchange without an issue....
Even if it doesn't work, mule drives are NBD to find.

Josh, your right about the belts. Thing is to set up for an 1811 he won't be able to get a belt from CC. I tried running the mower mule drive on mine for a while. The pulley angle wasn't a problem, as in, it didn't kick the belt, but man oh man did the belt get hot!

I believe you are right. However, the 48" deck that I have for my 129 has the center pulley centered with the machine, and therefore, the mule drive pulleys are set straight. The mule drives for the 44" and 50" decks have the angled pulleys.

We were talking about using mule drives from the 1450 or 1811. By this era, decks were in the 44 and 50 range. I suppose the 1450 could have an earlier deck/mule drive combo. Just assumed we were discussing the later mules.

True enough. I apologize for the off topic rabbit trail. I guess I was trying to make a point that didn't need to be made.
