Oh boy, the more I poke around with my 1211, the more I'm liking it! So I put the 1450 under cover, and most likely will prepare it for winter storage soon. And as for the 72, I have a little time before too long to prepare it for it's first winter job. Sorry to say I did not make it to picking up the 1450, or 86 yet, those garden tractors will be coming shortly!
Ok, back to the 1211! Tinkering around with it after work this morning. Installed the 1450's battery to the 1211, turn the key....and "nothing" . Then I thought I might as well split the tractor, and pull the engine to give a complete and detailed cleaning. Connections, ground wires, and contamination in the 4 gallon fuel tank. The carb will take me some time to get clean, so I was thinking about installing the clean one from my 1250. It may need a carb kit though. Anyways, I'm also certain the 1250 air cleaner will work on this Magnum 12. Something tells me I'm into something good! Here is the first clues as to why I think it wont start: At first I thought: " Why would someone loosen the safety switch engagement lever for ?" Turns out it is broke. That would be a good reason for sure! The safety switch itself seemed like no reason why it would not work,.... http://i61.tinypic.com/14d34zk.jpg[/ Then I checked the starter wire, and it pulled off from the starter connection point: http://i61.tinypic.com/2i8c4u9.jpg[/I Next, seems like there should be a wire or two connected here: http://i59.tinypic.com/9jf9zc.jpg[/IM Then, I noticed a brown and a white wire twisted together: http://i58.tinypic.com/10sbtw5.jpg[/ Then I noticed something I never seen before: http://i62.tinypic.com/do9cva.jpg[/IM http://i60.tinypic.com/mr7k10.jpg[/I Looks like its bran new,...no wear in the corners of the bracket. Tractor pushes around fine, and the flex disks look just fantastic! I will need to replace the axel carrier seals, hydro filter, gasket, Hy Tran, and another clean-job. So once I get all this far, think you guys can help me get her to crank over? Should I pull the head and make sure the intake and exhaust valves are operating correctly? I was turning the driveshaft by hand, and the engine sure seems to have good compression, and you could hear the hiss come from the muffler. I'm hoping to have found a good plow tractor. I don't want to use the 1450 or 72. Thanks for looking! http://i58.tinypic.com/6f5g7o.jpg[/IM :IH Logo: |
