this model has the cd ignition and the manual says battery voltage has to be above 7.2 volts for it to work. the battery was shot so needed to be replaced anyhow.

it has an ignition operated fuel shutoff valve. i checked it and it works like it should.

i'll go back in and re-clean the carburetor. i need to make a new gasket for the air cleaner to carb mount.

success! i followed the advice here and went back in and re-cleaned the carb. this time i used thin wire to make sure the various ports and tubes were clean, followed by carb cleaner and air.

started right up! changed the oil and filter. now for some serious mowing once it cools down.

Way to go Bud! Just my 2 cents but I would run some Sea Foam through the next couple tanks of gas in it. From my experience it helps clean out crap in the carb. Also try to find non ethanol gas for it. Try this site for non ethanol gas http://pure-gas.org/
