No, Maxwell, I don't have any armrests. If I did, I would do just as you said and get them reupholstered. Good to know that that Z-Force style is comfy.... it looked questionable to me.



I have that style on all my tractors, and that is the one I was planning on ordering. But, they don't list the armrests. I found two sets from different sellers, but they are just under $80. Soooo.... I think it's silly to pay more for the armrest than I did for the seat, but that may be what I have to do unless I go with another style. I just really like that style.


Keep the ideas coming, there have been several! I'll keep looking too.

I'll jump over to amazon and look. For the record, I'm not opposed to spending some cash, but $40 (or so) seems more reasonable given you can get the whole seat for $62 (ok, $84 with shipping :biggrin2: ).

J, IIRC these armrests came off of a 3k machine and the seat was from Surplus Center and had the holes in the back for them but I had to drill the holes in the bottom to fit.

I've also purchased one from Hamilton Bob. They are very nice and probably the best deal on the net but no holes on the back.

You could buy a new XT3 for around $5500. It's a beautiful seat that comes with a really nice mower attached.

Sell your other Cubs for cash and get a part time job with the time you saved not fixing them....much farther ahead.

Well I'm gonna stick my neck out here.
I'm a bit advanced in age to put it mildly.
I like arm rests on the lazyboy, truck, cars, etc.
but for the life of me, I never needed them on a lawnmower, too busy turning or
bouncing around.
Now maybe going down the road @ 55 mph it might be nice, but that don't happen.
My 806 has arm rests,and occasionally I use them while discing long fields.
but that is a farm tractor not a mower.

The "aftermarket" seat you linked to I've looked at at my local "farm" store. Been thinking about putting it on my 185 to see if I like it. For the price, I can deal with it on the LB if I don't care for it. I don't use it a lot.

LOL. I like how you lay it out, just like I would. I will say, that I may end up deciding they aren't worth the money. But, in my mind, I use my machines for so much more than mowing. It's just one job I do once a week with them. I mainly want it for all those slow garden chores like tilling and cultivating. Which I will do every about 2 times a week from the time the crops poke up, until they are too big to straddle. I don't know how short your fields are, but in Illinois, I wouldn't have tractor without arm rests.... way to far between turns to sit with no where to "store" my arms. :beerchug:

I agree that armrests for mowing are useless but I'd like to have them for plow day, it would be nice to have something to lean on since my back is messed up.

Hey Tim, "useless" I would disagree on.

Mowing grass such as a rural lawn with some nice long runs is pretty comfy with armrests unless you are too serious a lawn tractor driver and need a 10 and 2 steering wheel approach whilst wearing your IH hat and IH suspenders and underwear.

I have the right side always down, left up as that is tractor mounting side but will roll it down once in a good mowing cadence, its pretty comfy. and I like comfy like I imagine most do. Then again, I am a trim guy and "fit" nicely between the rests, some may feel like a sausage too big for a casing too small, I dunno.


But, it's like a lot of things, those that don't have them say they don't want them, those that do have them say they love them. The wheel in 12000BC was like that.

My lawn is bumpy and has alot of stuff to mow around so I turn lock to lock often, no time to rest my arms.

I'm an experienced operator. Even when things get "busy" I stay calm and relaxed. Unless the situation calls for a quick move... then LOOKOUT! I have the reflexes of a cat and the speed of a mongoose! :biggrin2:

I think I want armrests....
