No, it does not hurt the hydraulics to hold it up. I prefer to set it down because I have been known to step on the edge of the deck while getting on. Also, all the kids running around my place have been caught trying to use the deck as a spring board to jump on. (Yes, they got a butt chewing for it.... buy you know kids.) Quote:
http://www.cubcadetpartsnmore.com/m5...01--elbow.html You can get a reproduction muffler box from here: http://www.xtrememotorworks.com/Part...Cub-Cadet.html But it doesn't look like you have the aluminum piece that it bolts to. Your going to have to source a used one. That I am aware of, no one yet makes a reproduction. This guy is a great source for any and all NOS parts. You can get a muffler from CCC or from him. He's a little cheaper. He also has the elbow, but it's basically the same price as CCC wants. Look through his stuff, he may have the muffler box attaching plate. Great doing business with him. http://ihccw.com/mufflers.html Quote:

I didn't see where you asked about the fan on the driveshaft, but everyone is talking about it. Yes, it needs to be there. It was put on for a reason and on ALL the hydro tractors made buy CCC. People argue that Deere used the same hydro with no fan.... but they had a hydraulic oil cooler. Put on a new fan if your is broke or missing. |
My 1450 has the original, in good condition muffler and to me, its no more loud
than what you already have. I usually adjust the height adjustment knob on the right side, this way my deck don't end up on the floor. Your 1450 looks pretty decent in the pictures. |
Check the switch w/a test light or an ohm meter, you do have one or both I hope.
Salvage a lug from an old junk starter switch, If you are into Cubs for any length of time you will accumulate a few. At $50 bucks (+/-) a pop for a new NOS correct switch, it's damn sure worth it to me to salvage an old one. |
Switch
I bought a new generic switch from the local auto parts store very reasonable. But, you have to be able to discern the differences in function of the different ones available. I.E. mag verses battery powered ignition. They are different.

Anytime I have an implement attached when it's parked, it's down. That goes for garden tractors as well as the big ones.....
