well thats one way to do it. might not need all that if you spend a second to check it. I would at least check if you have spark first, and check compression before doing all that.

Sound advice there.
While cranking now does it sound like it has a weezing sound? Head gasket might have went.

I grew up near an older couple that hired me and my brother to do yard work in the late 1980s. I was driving their 122 from our house with a cart load of something. There wa a pop and the engine quit running. It cranked over fast and I knew something was wrong. I got their 1000 and towed it back to their house for disassembly.

It turns out the rod shattered into hundreds of prices. The oil level was full and it ran great up until then. I was on flat ground driving through a mowed field. Looking back there was nothing that could have caused that failure other than fatigue. The 122 wasbought new by the people I was working for. I have the 1000 here at my home.

I hope your engine didn't have the same problem. The upside was that was my introduction to interns, engine work. We used that 122 for years before they sold it.

I agree with Roland. I'd be pulling the plug and checking for piston movement. I'm betting it isn't. I wouldn't replace anything until you know what is wrong. Not even the spark plug. I think your engine is probably dead..... but only you can confirm.

:bigthink:

IF......this popping sound is going to electrical, the only device that would have enough voltage to create a popping noise, would be the Ignition Coil (Secondary side).
