Congrats on the 2284, i as well picked up a very nice 2284 on saturday. This tractor did not start because the battery was dead. Well after i got it and the crowd disappeared it just clicked and thought i know what to do. I left and took my relay modification off my 1864 ( 5 min job and 2 minute drive) put it on and cranked every time since. It doesnt sound like your type of problem but if i were you just do it and get it over with. Its on here somewhere on what to do. Sounds like contacts could be bad in the switch, follow harness very closely for rubbing anywhere.

The stalling issue could be the ignition switch, connection to the ignition switch, or in my case, the connection to the PTO switch. Mine developed the same issue and wiggling the connection to the PTO switch got it going again. I need to take the plug off and clean it out, it's probably dirty.

It appears I have electrical issues. It started and loaded on the trailer just fine. Got home started and unloaded off the trailer ok. Then it stuttered in the yard and quit at the garage door. Thought maybe out of fuel, added a couple of gallons. It starts and dies when you let go of the key. Saw electrical tape on the connector on ignition switch. Pulled that off and the black wire terminal was toast. Pulled that apart and replaced terminal and block. Still same thing start and quit. I'm leaning towards a bad ignition switch. Do the headlights stay on all the time? The switch seems to have a start, run with lights and off positions only, is this correct? My 1811 has start, run, run with lights and off positions. I do see the parts book calls out 2 different switches for the 1811 and 2284. When I turn the key on only I do hear and feel the fuel solenoid click. But if I touch the key just a little the solenoid clicks in and out and lights stay on. Any thoughts guys?

Unfortunately the electrical on the Cyclops tractors was not all that great.. It's waay over complicated.. I only have one that all the factory wiring still works on.. You can also use the Sam Mac solution and just pull it all out and re wire!:biggrin2::biggrin2:.. The 2182 we got from him ALWAYS starts and runs!

Lucky me, it was the ignition switch. First off the PO had wrong switch 33-394. But what are the chances of the switch giving out when I got it home. I think he had issues because he installed new battery and starter. :beerchug:
