Like factory new.

The pics showed that he did not even bother to tape off anything as he spray bombed the whole thing with the almost right colors.

And he only had it listed at $2500 with no deck tractor only.

Unbelievable! (shaking my head)

I think I know which one you’re talking about and there are more just like it. An old man had many in his collection and he fixed and painted the up the best he could. Unfortunately some had wrong parts, wrong series steering wheels etc and so on but he was proud of them and showed them etc. The problem is he passed away and all his tractors went to his family and they are trying to sell them at the wrong price point. I see them pop up from time to time and some are the same ones for too much money and no attachments. Not really a buyer beware thing but more of a mis informed seller.

Then there’s the ads that say “Farmall Cub Cadet”. Sometimes it’s a Farmall Cub and other times it’s a Cub Cadet. Every time it has a ridiculous asking price.

There’s also the ads that say “Haven’t had running. Just needs battery.” That probably means they put a battery in it and it either has a bad starter, trashed wiring, broken rod, or seized engine. They’re hoping a buyer will not be smart enough to bring a battery with them to try starting it before they fork over the cash.

How are you guys finding these $50 tractors? This is some of what I'm up against looking at Cubs here in Ohio.

Yep, that happens here allllll the time... "Cub cadet 1250 roller, 500 dollars firm" That makes me so frustrated. Here in southwest PA we get idiots who think anything is worth a ridiculous amount, or it's 100$ for three parts tractors but 4 hours away...

More often I just can't find anything and every craigslist search comes up with 0 results.

The most hilarious tractor to come and go was a "Mint pulling tractor" 73, crap house paint thrown on it (he was standing at least 10 feet from the tractor in the pictures but you could still see the paint run and orange peel), no clutch, no carb or exhaust, wrong transaxle. Completely junk and leaking fluid from engine, fuel lines, and rear end (he was obviously offended by me pointing that out, he blamed it on a truck, yet in another pic it was moved with drips in the same locations).

The best part?

IT WAS 3000$, and I had seen that tractor 2 days before on AuctionZip! He put no effort in!

It wasn't even setup for pulling and completely stock. Was the guy delusional? Definitely.

"Oh, I've owned this tractor for years," yeah right.

Oh, or you see people selling just attachments for like 200$. Junk mower decks, 150$ a piece, despite all missing parts.

The best ones are parts tractors... People hoping to get a quick buck by parting out. You shoot an offer for the whole thing and get the usual "Sorry, parts only, won't sell whole" Every time that happens they always get scrapped for 30$. "Bud, I would've given 300$ for that..." OR you ask them about a part and they immediately get all defensive and say, "Sorry, I stole that for my tractor."

Reminds me of this one guy that bought a tractor cheap and then took a bunch of good parts off it and replaced them with the junk parts from his other tractor and then tried to sell it for more than triple what he paid.
