Is the 3165 considered a SUPER?

No.

Ten characters.

Congratulations! Welcome to the "Supers". Seen that on Craig's list hidden behind the John Deere for sale. He also did not spell Cub Cadet properly in his listing. Be sure and check the differential front mounts for cracks before you get too far in getting it running!

Will do! Thanks for the heads up. Yeah it was priced to move that’s for sure.

Emailed him at like 10 last night. Went to bed last night thinking I had a chance but wasn’t getting my hopes up. Craigslist is a cruel mistress. I need to ban it from my phone. I really didn’t need another cub, but I like supers and I like cyclopses and couldn’t pass it up for $200.

Super nice people, by the way.

No ACR, probably blown gen 1 head gaskets. If it has been serviced properly through out its life you may get away with head gaskets. Be sure and use gen 4 head gaskets with the fire rings and true the head surface! If you overhaul, you may want to step up to a 25 hp or 27 hp. PM me, I have several needing overhauled I would part with.

Awesome! I was actually kinda leaning (hoping at least) towards head gaskets. Not as easy as on a kt/mag but not hard at all. Plus you can really look at the valves while the heads are off.

Guy had owned it for 14 years, and bought it from the Deere dealer who I assume took it in on trade. Makes sense since CCC really stopped making this sort of thing by the time it would have been 8 or 9 years old. I liked seeing dates and hours on the oil filter. Seemed like they really liked the tractor, just needed something to mow 5 acres and didn’t want to dump 2k (new engine) into this one.

$200? Jeepers, how do you sleep at night?:biggrin2:
Congrats, that was one heck of a deal right there, even if the engine would be junk.:beerchug:
Keep us in the loop on your findings...

I think you should lay off CL too. More cubs for me. :beerchug:

Haha I miss out on my fair share too. Missed a $30 #2 cart the other day. And missed a $400 982 earlier this year too.

You got a good one right there!! I'm betting on blown head gaskets!:bigthink: My 1782 is one of my favorites.. the plastic scared me but it hasn't been bad at all.. really tough all things considered... you get it running and I promise you will enjoy it!:beerchug:

It was a $525.00 IH 982 with a cat 0 hitch and rear PTO. By the way, it runs great!

So which of you got the 2082 in Pleasant Hill on CL a month ago for $200? If you need Super parts PM me. Also have 14 blades, 3 blowers, chains/weights...

Haha yes that’s the one! Had an onan performer in it? I was #2 behind you.

I don’t feel bad about my 2084 now. :biggrin2:

I didn’t see the 2082. I don’t generally pay super close attention anymore since I REALLY don’t need more tractors. Just happened to click on the notification this time. I did snag a $150 782 with a thrown rod, IH hubcaps and a 48GT deck, a $100 782 with no seat or rear wheels (not sure why he kept those) but ran, and a $100 682 roller with very straight Metal and everything but an engine (including muffler and engine tin) in the last year or so though.

One nice thing about not having a cyclops is that I have been able to ignore 451 blowers since I have nothing to put them on. Now I have to start paying attention for good deals. Might be interested in a blade though. Too bad it’s only single hydraulics!
