Why are you worried about chassis numbers??

The front seal is really the back seal,-- meaning toward the rear of the tractor
Be careful.

The " rear" seal is the PTO/crankcase cover seal.-- toward the front of the tractor.
Just to keep everyone on the same page.
Some parts reference's continually mix them up.
If one is replacing both seals there is no problem.

Then again, to thicken the plot, if it were a Case tractor the front seal would be on the front,
but if it were a Wheel Horse the front seal would be on the side. :bash2::HeadScratch::Duh:

I went by what.....Kohler.....calls it. After all, they should know.

And if it was a KT 17 vertical engine, the flywheel seal would be the top seal.
Thus the designation flywheel end or PTO end.:bigthink:

Don't matter how you designate it because one things for sure, that is....
The one that needs replaced is always the one that takes the most work to get to. :crap:

Well I ordered seal 52 032 10 S. We'll see if it fits. Thanks for all the help.

The front of that engine is the flywheel end, the rear is the pto end. No matter if it is on top,in a vertical application, sideways or longitudinal mounted,--- or cub decided to drive off the flywheel end.
No harm done, if it was time to replace one, it is time to replace the other, and you already have one now.
Now if you happened to removed the crankcase cover while changing the PTO seal and it had a paper gasket between it and the block, replace it with a paper gasket. If it had RTV as sealant use RTV to reseal it. Make sure you put the seal in deep enough so the centering tabs on the PTO clutch have a place to fit into. but not too deep. Use RTV sparingly if you use it. More is worse not better,---- ALWAYS!!
As it gets into oil passages and clogs them causing catatastropic engine failure. :bigeyes:
FWIW: Kohler wrote the service manual/parts lists for their engine, no matter who purchased it and installed it in various ways.
