A battery "tender" or "maintainer" is not a battery "charger".
It is meant keep a battery fresh by trickle charging a low current, only when needed, to maintain the battery's float voltage.

If you are applying a "tender", only on occasion to, a battery that has degraded over a period of time from sitting, you are over taxing the "tender", not doing the battery any good, and wasting your time.

Yup. Nocos are really good, I have several, my dad has several, my brother has 1 or 2...

I store all my batteries inside my shop on a shelf except for the ones on the plow Cub and loader Cub.
The ones that are shelved get topped off about once a month w/a tender while I am in the shop and can keep an eye on it.
When then green light comes on for the init it is connected to, I'll switch to the next battery and so on.
Works for me!

Forgot one last fall on the 169 that is in a different bldg.
a month ago, I turned on the gas, gave it a smidgeon of choke, hit the key and it was running, no issues and no special storage prep other than shutting off the fuel

That's normally how my singles are. The opposed twins seem to like to crank longer, at least the Kohlers.

My Onan twin still starts really fast.

I use one. 1.5 amp charger/maintainer, mainly use it in the winter but occasionally do have one on it in the summer months. My newest battery is currently 3 years old my oldest is pushing 6 and still starting the machines fine. (All batteries get taken out of machines that sit in the cold and brought into the heated shed and put on the maintainer) it's worked out really well for me. Also have a couple cars that stay on it as well

I have an Interstate L&G Battery in my 784, that I installed in Sep 2013, it was good until this spring, and NEVER had a Battery Tender on it.

This is another example of "your results may vary". I have had stellar luck with the Noco unit, and when the light turns green, I move on to the next battery-supervised. I haven't lost one yet.

Got one of those this past Xmas. I've quit using it cause back lighting stays red and the charge level has never hit or show a full charge. Don't trust it. I know Battery is good. Was brand new last October.
