Wow, that was an expensive machine!

Cub Cadet 1864 value today

I picked up my 1864 with 940 hours, a 54" deck and a front bumper for $660. That was the best money I ever spent! I found it on craigslist...to me, it is worth it's weight in gold!!

Check out some pictures of my 1864 restoration under the "lets see your cub cadets" page 60. I'm proud of the results and I enjoy using my 1864 every time I'm in the seat!

Special thanks to the knowledgeable Cub members and enthusiasts using this site for the excellent help they provided along the way toward making my restoration a success!

The new equipment sold today just can't compare to the quality of the older equipment. If you like to tinker with tractors, your best value is an older tractor. Working on them provides hours of good fun and comradery with others who share your interests. The OCC site is the best for Cub enthusiasts!

Also, special thanks to the people who purchased these machines years ago. Their willingness to spend the "big bucks" back then is what makes it possible for us to enjoy them today! :beerchug:

The Only thing with the cyclops I don't like is MTD should Have used Metal for Grille/Headlight section of the Hood . The Hoods would Probably of Held Out Better on the 1782 and 2182 Supers:ThumbsUp:

Cyclops plastic grille

Probably all Cub mowers with a plastic grille, hood and side panels should have had front bumpers as standard equipment.

The kid next door to my parents cut their lawn (using Dad's 1641) when they were away and accidentally drove into the side of their house! He wrecked the front grille and the aluminum siding when he over steered going around the corner of the house. A front bumper may have saved some costly front end repairs...:bigthink:

Once Cub stopped using cast iron front casting for the grill, they should have come standard with a Bumper of some type, even a steel hood dents. Over time, the Plastic front end weakens at the bottom and cracks. But Had the grill section been steel, You probably would not have run into as many issues with the side Panels or hood on the Cyclops tractor series cracking as often, especially on the Diesel and Gas liquid-cooled Super garden tractors.

One of my 82 series was owned by an elderly man who purchased it new. Well, the back of the tractor was almost flawless, BUT the front had been hit HARD and often, resulting in a severely cracked and distorted aluminum nose piece, and a bent front frame rail. The hood was dented and twisted, and the side panels were MIA. That one would have benefitted from a bumper.

Looking at tractordata 1864, looks like you could get creative and bolt up some kinda bumper configuration. Hit the local scrap yard ,go from there.

Here is the next best thing: http://www.xtrememotorworks.com/Weig...20Bumpers.html. I have this as well as the OEM bumper for My 2182. Every so often, a bone yard does get the Bumpers in as well. I actually got a new OEM bumper from here https://www.ihccw.com/ about 2 years ago.

CC Bumper...

Thanks for the info on the bumper...:biggrin2:

I just placed an order for a used one from IHCCW to "protect my investment" in the new grille I put on my Dad's 1641...which I restored a few years ago. Seems the prices of cyclops plastic front ends has gone through the roof!
