Well, the tractor is paid for and I plan to pick it up Friday. I would have taken it tonight but I have to borrow a trailer and it is unavailable until then. When I called the man back he ended up being two rows over from me in the Wal-Mart parking lot, talk about "meant to be". He said he would look for the side panels and get the tractor dug out of the corner this week. Don't worry because it will be no "trailer queen", I plan to use to it plow the garden this spring and mow the yard on occasion.

That's awesome news! Funny about being in so close in the parking lot.

It is a beauty!!

I may have mentioned it before but the owners son owns a business repairing marine engines. He told me that he scoped the engine and the piston/cylinder looks good. He also said that oil in the cylinder did not help the compression, that is why it is assumed the compression issue is valve related.

It looks like it still has the original "Small" starter on it. Besure to keep that around. they are almost impossible to find and when you do find them for sale, they sell for almost as much as you just paid for that tractor.

I agree with Johncub. With only 2,345 of them built I wouldn't use it as a worker. I think I would go through the engine and only clean and polish the rest of it up. The original finish looks nice. That is a real collector item.
I would love to find one of those someday. I missed one in Pittsburg PA last summer for twice that and it was in boxes.

It got the better of me so I told the seller about the history of the model 800 and he could probably get twice the money for it. He said he did not much care and $200 was what he wanted. I gave him a big Okie Dookey as I handed him the money, he even offered to bring it to me for free. I declined the delivery option and told him I will pick it up Friday. I feel like I have already taken advantage of him, guess it is more like he took advantage of himself, and making him bring it to me would surely bring some kind of bad Karma.
