Sorry to hear that, Paul. It was 80 here today. :biggrin2:

PaulS 03-16-2013 10:35 PM

We did get some primer on parts that I had ready to paint but just too cold. So far we got about 3 inches of snow. I think I will stain it green for St Patricks day. Well maybe not.

The weather here was crap too Paul.
At least you got something done on it.:beerchug:

For you guys up north I feel your pain. It was 75 here yesturday. Nice being able to sit on the porch in shorts and a tee shirt with a scotch on the rocks after a day in the shop working on the yellow critters. :biggrin2::beerchug:

PaulS 03-17-2013 09:52 AM

Sam I had shorts and a t shirt on too, under a lot of other clothes though.

Hey Paul, another week or so we'll be out of this cold snap and be able to get-r-done. I don't care for this cold air but I dislike that HOT, Humid, Southern Summer Heat even more. I'll stay up here in PA. :biggrin2:

PaulS 03-17-2013 04:38 PM

Me too. Spent a few months in military tech school in Mississippi. About the best time I had there was at the swimming pool or the AC movie theatre.

Wow Bill no truer words were ever spoken. When we took the old drive shaft off the bushing that was supposed to be in the Drive shaft coupling was sitting inside the space made by the rag joints. We had decided to just replace it in the coupling. Well that part got misplaced. As it turns out it was a good thing because if that bushing had gone the other way (toward the engine) it could have caused a lot of damage. A new drive shaft flange is on order. Sometimes the good Lord takes care of we dummys.

Grampie 03-19-2013 02:16 PM

AMEN to that Paul! :biggrin2:

EricR 03-31-2013 09:24 PM

Sorry I haven't posted about this thing lately BUT I did get the new drive shaft made (thank you Harry) and we still are waiting on more parts.

PaulS 04-01-2013 09:26 PM

We have been doing some cleaning on the 2072. The rear was packed with crud. This Pic was after scrapping and after degreaser was applied.

Another shot of the rear

This is the crud we scrapped off first.

Starting to look like a cadet again.

ACecil 04-01-2013 10:12 PM

The 2072 tranny cleaned up nicely, Paul!

Cubcrazy 04-02-2013 06:11 AM

Big difference Paul!
Looking good!

Grampie 04-02-2013 06:46 AM

Nice job there Paul, amazing how much crud can collect under there.

Sam Mac 04-02-2013 08:17 AM

Man that was nasty! :beerchug:

PaulS 04-02-2013 09:59 AM

When we started you could barely see the fins. Obviously the seat pan had not been removed in a very loooong time even though some of the seat pan bolts were missing. We have yet to look forward to engine tin removal for engine cleaning. Too bad the rear and engine cannot be dunked in my electrolysis tank but for more than a couple reasons that is not feasible.

vartz04 04-02-2013 10:07 AM

Get some of the kwik strip paint stripper and paint it on the rear end. Made my life a lot easier when I tried to wire wheel the paint off of it. It basically makes the paint bubble off and you can get most of the paint off with a plastic scraper

Methos 04-02-2013 10:44 AM

Dang that was nasty! Great job getting it clean again.:beer2:

PaulS 04-02-2013 05:09 PM

At the moment this tractor is not next in line for a refinish. We are just going to get it running and cleaned up from its present state.

EricR 06-14-2013 11:12 PM

Well this tractor has come a long way since I bought it. Here are some pics form where it was till tonight.

And here he is almost all back together (still have a few more things to button up yet but getting there).

HEY NICK, Ya Snooze, Ya Loose! You have to keep up on all these threads, Ya never Know when someday, someone may just be GIVING AWAY A SUPER! or mabe even a #1,2,3, or #4 cart! Why I know a guy a while back picked up a FREE 782 off this site! It's a nice tractor too! Read Everything, if not, it's your loss!

Grampie 06-24-2013 12:57 PM

Glad to see your getting it wrapped up EricR, It's been a long time comming but I knew you two could make it happen! Good job!:beer2:

PaulS 06-24-2013 01:18 PM

It is back together for the most part. We are running cheap tranny fluid in it just to clean it up a bit and then another drain and filter change and Hytran goes back in. We did a repair of the seals in the steering but now although it is working it is pretty stiff to turn. I was wondering if we have air trapped in the cylinder.

Grampie 06-24-2013 02:16 PM

Coud very well be Paul, Sometimes it can take quite awhile to get it out. Are you experencing any whineing noises in the steering when you turn? I put that loader on the 2284 and the bucket valve talked to me for quite awhile till the air got worked out of it. You need seat time anyways, don't you? Ride On Brother! :beerchug:

Sam Mac 06-24-2013 04:09 PM

You can crack the hose connections on the steering ram to bleed the air but it should clear on it's own.
