Thank you guys....i cant wait to get it together either...this sortof resto is just kindof tedious, whereas the next one on the dockett is gonna be a worker.....oak, i might have some diesel questions for you as you are the the go to guy.....and maybe some moldboard plowing too!!!!:biggrin2:
Anyways rear wheels are in primer,(seam gone) gonna try to squirt this weekend and finish mud and primer and block sanding on fender pan.... Heres somemore pics of that oil breather vent...just a cut barb, but i like it better than the hanging hose, and the grass sheild, or bottom plate i just put a .625" hole for clearance..... Thank you fellas..... |

Thanks guys, thank you allen!!!
|
Quick question: i know its not original but i put a float bowl on the tank, and have ran 3/16" hard brake tubing for fuel line....is this stupid, and gonna leak????
|

Thanks guys, means alot....
This is that fuel line..mi dont know, makes me nervous....should just do a barb and rubber....just seemed like a good idea at the time....looks old anyways.....think itll leak???? |
Very nice work, looks great.:beerchug:
|
A 169 originally had a rubber fuel line, that being the engine and the tank are not mounted as one, like a NF is,so I would go with that setup, less likely to leak.
By the way,great looking 169!!!! |
yeah i know, i was just thinking the retro line would be cool...anyways, i had that feeling so i pulled it off and barbed it...kept the fuel bowl though...thanks alot fellas...cant wait to get this sucker done...filled it with oil last night gonna try and start/test everything before i get fenders and all that on...hope it doesnt blow up or blow leaks all over:bash2:...my biggest worry when EVERYTHING gets redone....anyways...im looking forward to making this diesel worker out of the 72....although, i did find a greene 140 h3 for sale the other day?????? hmmmmm.....nope
thank you fells |
As my dad used to say, "Woweewoo-woo!" Sharp!
We're anxious to see it all done too (although not for the same reason). :) |
hey lew, or anyone, know how to wire this hour meter??? if i didnt already kill it.....is it hot to "a" terminal and then ground to the mounting post as i have recently read??? or is it one spade post is hot and one is ground??? i tried to hook it to a battery that way and the white hand did not move....then like i said i just read some where that the center "mounting" post should be the ground????? if so then whats the other terminal for, and which one is the hot one??? this thing isnt lighted....although i did get it to look brand new with polished bezel...pics in a bit..nothing major but i did get the rear wheels on.....anyways, thanks alot fellas...
|

I am working on the answer..... |
The fenders are painted finally and cureing...that's after blocking them out about 6 times...I don't know what's wrong with me....but other than that she's ready to go...I finished up all the lift rear lift parts, made them all....just need to grab a battery...I figure 2 weeks she'll be driving around... I'll post pics....just too much going on...I have to have my trailer done by july1st, i need to do our roof this year, and just a million other things....
Thanks for helping Lew, |

Looking good! Keep up the good work.
|
Spectacular work, Sir. :Bowdown2:
|
Please tell us what brands of paint and primer are you using.
Looks nice. Love to get the Kohler decals. M |
Wow. Looks amazing. Keep up the great work!
|
first of all thank you very much...
just using a napa 2k, then mud work (everlast light weight) then a sikkens highbuild, (now ppg i guess) and then im just using single stage enamel irongard with the expensive valspar hardener, (not the one at tsc or whatever) wetsand after 2 weeks or depending on cure, climate humidity etc, and buff with "perfect it" (very fine marine buffing compound)...thats if the peel is bad enough for me to care..sometimes when i can get the pressure down on my gun and get good ML'ge without slippers or sags then it looks good enough as is... |
Wow have you tracked the time you gotta have in that?? It's a showstopper for sure!! I know I haven't been on here long enough to have an opinion yet but I think the solid gas line looks great. Shouldn't be a problem if you put a couple inches of rubber?braided stainless? flexible hose in there as a vibrasorber? It would break my heart too if it were mine and dribble gas on that meticulous paint tho. Nice work!! I am always nervous as all get at that stage of reassembly. My Very Humble Opinion. Matt

Well she's alive!!! I had a hell of a time, after I got the fenders on and rear lights and flasher all wired up, I want to smell new engine.....nothing...crank and crank, pull plug dry as a bone...float needle sticking...just knocked on the braass nut a little with a wood handle screwdriver...bubbles in the float bowl and away she went...whew...that was a lot of work...I'll break her in tomorrow maybe... Have some TouchUp to do and some other little things...sleeve hitch, bolt retightening, etc....I'll get some better pics when I get her out in the yard....
Thanks guys.... |
Wow! Absolutely gorgeous! This is my kind of OCD build haha What tire setup are you running front and rear? Love the breather line and steering box mods! Also, did you clear over your stickers?
|
My goodness. That is beautiful. :beerchug:
|
Amazing, very nice work!:beerchug:
|
Thank you guys...funny the ocd thing...get it all the time....nope, no clear...I haven't done that on any of my tractors...I have done it on some motorcycle parts I have squirted for people and the results were very good...I just like that I can wet sand and buff or even patch straight color if need be...I noticed the irongard does leave halos or imperfect color matches when patched, but good enough for a garden tractor...and believe it or not but one that will get used from time to time...I should've documented all the work I did on the front axle, as far as bronze bushings, grease channels and drilled and tapped stainless zerks...For the pivot and for the spindles....I'll get some more shots after I get her broke in some....
Thanks again PS. Oh and the tires are 4x8 deestone tri-ribs in front and Carlisle trupowers in the rear... |
I don't plan on going quite this crazy with my 108 but I intend to make it a pretty sweet piece! Can't go wrong with more grease fittings!
|
I can't emphasize this enough...... EXCELLENT JOB!! BEAUTIFUL RESTORATION!
:IH Trusted Hand: |
Excellent job on your 169!

|
Can you post some details and part numbers on your steering box lube system?
|
Congrats on getting it done. You put in a lot of hard work and it shows. Very nice.
