No they don't want it back. It would fit a Super. :beerchug:

darkminion_17 12-22-2016 06:43 PM

Sam has a new toy to play with, the crate you can use to make a trailer for it!

cubcadet 12-22-2016 06:57 PM

Congrats Sam, nice!:beerchug:

Terry C 12-22-2016 07:02 PM

Congrats Sam! :beerchug:

Amen to that! I have been trying to find some donor plastics for my 1882 with no luck at all. Also been trying to find a push blade to fit a SGT and those are like hen teeth.

DieselDoctor 12-22-2016 07:27 PM

Sweet deal Sam! Glad it got to you ok. I did get the 2072, I pick it up next week, Gerald still has the 1541. If someone in N.Y. wants it, I might be able to bring it north for you. Stan

john hall 12-22-2016 07:34 PM

That crate looks an awful lot like what they ship (or at least used to) those green things in. Just saying......:BlahBlah:

That 1541 may be a deal or a money pit. The hydro issue could be as simple as the release valve stuck part way in the release position or a bad charge pump. You can pickup a used 1641 pump off Flea Bay for around $75.00 but the tractor has 1300 hours on it so how much more time does the Mag 15/18 have left before it shoots it's cookies? I kicked it around and decided that the 1864 was enough for now for me.

Hope your 2072 turns out to be a score.

Rescue11 12-22-2016 07:57 PM

Congratulations on the 1864, my favorite cub!

John147 12-22-2016 07:59 PM

I am going to be watching this one develop i have been eyeing 1862/1864's recently power steering seems like a nice feature.

Sam Mac 12-22-2016 08:02 PM

This thread will be going into hibernation shortly. No heat in the shop and I have the water drained. I'm guessing it will be sometime in March before I get into it. :beerchug:

I thought you said it was 47° down your way? That's t-shirt weather for us folks up north.

Dirty Steve 12-22-2016 09:50 PM

 Looks mighty fine, Sam. Congrats!

J-Mech 12-22-2016 10:55 PM

Well cool! It made it there in one good piece! Looks like a good start for a project from here!

No joke! If it was 47 I'd already be working on my tractor...... outside!! :BlahBlah:

jaynjeep 12-23-2016 12:03 AM

Awesome deal Sam! That's a helluva crate!:biggrin2::biggrin2: Surprised they don't want it back!

It's great when someone represents a machine well and you are happy with the deal! Unfortunately that doesn't happen too much anymore this day and time!:beerchug:

zippy1 12-23-2016 12:42 AM

Looks good SAM.:beerchug:
"Hibernation?" (sniff, sniff) what's that I smell? No heat? There are companies now days that sell such a thing, that warms an area you know?...:biggrin2:
Just hackin on ya Sam. But really, it's time to warm up that space.:bigthink:

Sam Mac 12-23-2016 07:46 AM

Just checked the weather for the next 10 days, looks like I'll be able to get a few things done on the newbie. No I'm not going to waste the $$$ to try to insulate and heat the shop. :beerchug:

Sam Mac 12-23-2016 04:02 PM

It's up on the lift, plastic is off, grill is cracked, deck and mule are off. Seat slides actually slide after a little PB. Two broken valve cover bolts. Looks like the crank seals are leaking. PTO wiring has typical issues, gotta hold it up in order for it to stay engaged, looks like a seat switch problem. Headlights don't work. Needs a good pressure washing. No tranny leaks, oil looks like crap. Had to stop for the wife's family Christmas party. Will more done as weather permits. :beerchug:

Sam Mac 01-01-2017 03:15 PM

Got some quality shop time today. Seat pan, gas tank, foot pads, fender support, muffler, PTO are all off. Drilled out the 2 broken valve cover bolts and re tapped them. Now I need to load it up and drag it to the car wash for a bath. Unfortunately I have the water drained in the shop so no pressure washer. Surprisingly nothing fought me. I'm starting to like this tractor even more. :beerchug:

Dirty Steve 01-01-2017 04:52 PM

Glad someone is getting a shop time. :beerchug: Nothing but chasing kids here. I did move some parts from my shed to basement this afternoon. Also emptied mouse traps and reloaded them. Tough being surrounded by corn and bean fields. :beatdeadhorse:

john hall 01-01-2017 08:45 PM

According to post #55 it must be March already!:biggrin2: We knew you couldn't wait that long!!:beerchug:

J-Mech 01-01-2017 11:04 PM

I'm with John. Didn't figure it would take you that long to get started on it! Where's the pics???

Yeah it was killing me waking past it sitting on the lift. I'll try to get some pics. :beerchug:

I feed my mice a nice diet of mouse killer from TSC, can't let them go hungry. :biggrin2:

Got little pig pen cleaned up today. Dragged the pressure washer up to the house and hooked it up to the hot water in the basement. Then hauled the 1864 up to the house and went at it. Boom pole on the BX worked like a charm. Here are the promised pics. :beerchug:

DieselDoctor 01-02-2017 05:18 PM

Love the plow/loader combination! Who says one tractor can't do everything! Project tractor looks good too. Amazing what a good hot bath will do.

john hall 01-02-2017 05:29 PM

Looking better all the time! Glad you got some shop time in today. According to the weather man really cold weather is headed this way--lower teens end of the week, maybe some white stuff.

Yep winter is on the way. I'll play with the 1864 between cold snaps. Once the engine is out it will get another bath then I'll get into the stuff that it needs. So far looks like an easy one to fix up compared to some of the others I've done. Paint is decent so I may skip that at least for now. No reason to pull the rear out so I'll just pop the axles out and use a suction gun to get the water out of the tubes, slap a new set of axles seals in it and a set of GT braces and call it a day. I'll probably do a volt meter and oil pressure gauge, clean and pack the CV joint for the steering and re wire it. It's getting a CH22 that only has 25 hours on it and a new Xtreme PTO. Think this one was well cared for, every bolt has come out with no problems. :beerchug:

Nice work on the cleaning of the dirt, did the same yesterday with the 1440 parts tractor, donor, but no hot water.
I like that pressure washer!

jaynjeep 01-02-2017 06:55 PM

Looking great Sam!!:beerchug:

Hot water sure is nice to get all that grease and grime washed away!!:beerchug:

Sprint60 01-02-2017 06:55 PM

Nice - that BX is handy. I've gotta get a boom like that for my Yanmar!

Lew

I have a washer setup in the basement so it makes it easy to just run a hose out side to the washer. The washer is an old Northern Hydraulics before they became Northern Tool washer that had an 8hp Tecumseh engine on it. It was always a PITA to start, local guy wanted a cheap engine for a log splitter and I had the 16 Vanguard out of a Cub so we now have a killer pressure washer. It rocks! :beerchug:

I did some more washing on the 169s today too.

Sam I know you've shared some specs on that but how about refreshing our memory of the cub r washer. Is that a vanguard and a cat pump?

cubcadet 01-02-2017 07:19 PM

Looking good Sam!

Engine is a 16hp Vanguard out of a 1641 that had problems, pump is from Annovi Reverberi or AR for short. The pump is probably 20 years old. Still easy to get parts for it. I put a new set of valves in it and it works like new.
