Spent most of the day on a tractor. Mowed with the 1862. Then went to the mess I have in the backyard. I'm in the process of putting in some drainage pipes. I dug the trenches earlier in the week, so today I started laying the pipe. I'm doing about 2" of stone, then 4" pipe, then cover the pipe with stone and ground on top. Homemade bucket on the front and brinly box blade on the back sure does help.
(I'm not sure why the picture is sideways or how to change it, I'm a little new here.) (fixed it for you) |
Cool pic of the cub in action!

Fire!!!

I almost burnt the 1864 up! I was 40 minutes into mowing the Xmas trees this morning and started to smell something. About 5 seconds later smoke came rolling out the front. I immediately shut it down and pulled the side panels. I didn't see any oil or signs of the source. I fired it back up and the smoke was flying again. It was coming from around the left spark plug. Pulled the wire off and could see some oily grass build up smoldering. I spit on it and blew out what I could. Waited 10 minutes and fired it back up, no smoke. Immediately drove to the shed and blew everything out with the air hose. I guess I have been slacking on my clean up. I think I will be pulling the side panels after every mow now! I also spotted a missing nut on the exhaust manifold right in front of where the fire started. I an a little embarrassed and almost didn't post this but I thought it is a good lesson. If it can happen to my OCD a$$, it could happen to anyone.

I finally got the 149 put back together after having the rear out for the last 6 months to remove a broken bolt, lol. Nice solid tractor, now to clean up the loader and swap it from the cobbled together 12 horse 149:beerchug:

Well not today, but yesterday. Spent the day cleaning, lubing, adjusting, & changed engine oil on my 1861. Hydro linkage is still sloppy (wants to creep near neutral, and lever seems a little loose). I still need to clean up the hood and go over the deck.
Whats a good way to clean & shine up the plastic panels? How about the fenders? I threw in a pic of the #2 cart I got a few weeks back. Anyway, some pics (had to resize & crop these so not sure how well they'll turn out) Attachment 52014 Attachment 52015 Attachment 52016 |

Thanks for posting, that could have turned out BAD! Good to know & not take simple things like a missing nut for granted? This post will make me more aware of things.:bigthink: NIK, |
Nice pics Allen!

Thanks Josh!

Got some seat time on the 1811 and mowed for a good couple hours straight (past sundown, too). Luckily I snapped a couple pics before the headlights had to come on :biggrin2:
And not Cub, but Cub related; my work bench. Hung some OSB last weekend, got things mounted, and have been spending evenings before bed this last week organizing and cleaning things up. It's a work in progress, but it's getting there. http://s9.postimg.org/iub4ub8f3/IMG_...3845_Small.jpg http://s9.postimg.org/5ovmo7ejj/IMG_...4353_Small.jpg http://s9.postimg.org/pm1jx5xen/PANO...518_Custom.jpg |

Sold the 122, got a QA42 as partial trade, although the mount is NF and I'll need a WF. Fired up the 1450 to play and found Hytran running out of the bottom, it is coming out of the holes in the check valves. Pulled the valves and they are ok, I'll be getting some orings in the morning. There is a never ending list with this thing, but eventually it will be in shape for another 30 years.

I changed the filter, Hytran and new gasket. Got the tiller gearbox on and no leaks so I put the deck on and killed some grass, tall grass I haven't cut till now. This cub can cut some grass!
And looks good doing it. Attachment 52219 Attachment 52220 Attachment 52221 Attachment 52222 Attachment 52223 |
