I guess the joke's on me! I didn't think that you'd have snow pics!
The 100 looks kind of naked without the back rest on the seat! I didn't realize how much it added to the looks until just now! |
I totally agree, CBH. It's amazing how the backrest made the 100 look much better.

Today the paint was dry on my weight bracket,
so I put it back on and added the 3 little weights. I won't know if #300 is enough till it snows :bigthink: |
That's a lot of weight! :OMG:
You need to put a toilet seat on it, just to top it off! That would look funny! :biggrin2.gif: |
Wow! I hope you've got that very securely attached to the frame and rearend in a lot of places...that's A LOT of weight hanging quite a ways out with no bracing. I hope nothing breaks.
|
Nice weight bracket, ol'George!
Got some seat time today. Had a lot of limbs to pick up, after the storm we had Sunday night. I forgot to take a pic with the cart full, so I got an after pic. There were some gumballs in the cart though! :beerchug: http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/r..._0828Small.jpg |

being 2 pieces of 3/8 thickness, 4"x6"x 10" long. They are welded together to make a "C" shape which snugly slips on either side of the tractor frame. It attaches to the frame with the existing 3/8" bolt holes on the frame sides, below the sleeve hitch piviot, it also attaches to the lower sleeve hitch "U" brackets 1/2" holes on the Differential housing That gives me 4, 3/8" bolts and 2, 1/2" bolts in a shear configeration. Welded to that, and protruding out 24" is a 1/4" thick 4"x8" piece of truck frame, that the weights sit on. The fabrication is brutally strong and it ties the dif. casting & tractor Frame together. As I see the leverage effect, the weight is pulling the frame rearward & downward and pushing the diff.casting foreward. Without the QA42 attached I'd say there is maybe #100 +_ on the front axle. |
ol'George, considering that you are using a blower, that should be plenty of weight. The drive tires do not have to work as hard as pushing snow.
I have a 200 lb concrete weight hanging off the back of my Cub as well (although not as pretty), and it works pretty good. Between washer fluid filled tires and chains, it pushes snow pretty good. I pulled my wife and daughter on a sled in about 10 inches of snow in the yard, and it would slip a little, but never spin out. |
I re-installed the muffler box that goes on the motor on Dustin's 800 today. Then... 1 thing led to another..Replaced the ISO mounts, bolted the starter wires, coil wires etc that needed fixed a little, bolted the muffler box and the components together, set the gap on the PTO clutch and now have it 75% ready to start.Hopefully a couple more work days and we can see how it operates. Too bad he didn't want to paint it up first...

well i finally got me some rattle can paint from TSC,got the inside of my frame painted, then today i ordered me a new seat and some other stuff like seat bumpers, carb. kit,tie rods, steering kit, battery hold down,etc....cant wait til my parts come but i need to get to painting but here its so cold even with heat in the garage the paint doesnt want to keep its shine,so i am trying to wait til it warms up just a bit, anyone have any ideas on the paint???
|
In my my experience, rattle can paint rarely dries shiny. Sometime it will look dull if you haven't applied enough. If you are painting in the cold, that isn't helping either. It needs to be at least about 60 degrees.

The valspar from TSC needs to be applied over a good quality primer and in warm temperatures otherwise it will turn out dull looking and blotchy. I took my time in warm temperatures with the 1811 hood/side panels and it turned out pretty shiny. The rims turned out shiny too.

yeah i know, its so hard to have a cub project in the winter,i think the humidity has alot to do with it as well

Almost looks like a tractor now....Awaiting a clutch setup and battery and we will be firing the old girl up...

Cool pictures of your Cubs bignastyGS
Nice area you have to work on them too :beerchug: |
That's a really sharp 108. I used to have a 128 that looked almost that nice. It's hard to beat a nice, clean, original tractor.

edw: Glad you got your cub straightened out. |
I used the super 1872 and 450 snowblower to whittle the 30"+ of snow we got over the last 2 days. But 1st had to send 1/2 the day making new longer lift brackets and a manual lift for it. But those threads are elsewhere. the thing sticking up from the tractor with the orange flag is my improvised manual lift for the blower. I sheared the lift arm and end of the rockshaft off my tractor last snow running down the hill in the picks with my plow. I hit something immovable under the snow at speed. Also flags on the drift cutters so I can see them better.
What I saw when I opened the garage door. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re178Small.jpg 1st look up the drive. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re179Small.jpg Most of these pics were taken BEFORE I found out that I was only turning the left side screw of the blower. I had a broken shear pin. Once I replaced that look out. Man will this thing throw it. It works so much better when the whole thing is turning. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re181Small.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re187Small.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re183Small.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re182Small.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re224Small.jpg Ginger is about the size of a lab. Just a little bit of snow. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re223Small.jpg This is the hill at the beginning of our neighborhood private road. 3-4/10 of a mile long. A neighbor cleaned this this am. I went over and open everything up some. I usually do most of the plowing. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re214Small.jpg Looking down the same hill with my neighbors(BIL) dog. scene of the shattered rockshaft. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re208Small.jpg |
Nice pics, squatch! You guys got hammered with snow. :beerchug:

wow squatch that is alot of snow, thank god we didnt get any this time around, very good action pics you took there, thanks for sharing
|
squatch,
Thats a lot of snow! Great pictures of the 1872  |
Thanks for the kind words. Spent most of today digging out and clearing more of the road. Neighbor scraped the road with his heavier JD2210 and 54" blade. I followed with the super and blower and disposed of it. Worked well like that to break up the ice layer underneath. I spread ashes from my woodstove on the hill for ice traction. Works great for traction and helps it melt when the sun comes out. Doesn't tear up the pavement like salt. Neighbor has a coal stove so we use his gritty ashes too. Can't wait to get my lift fixed. But I suspect we'll be done with snow by then.
