Well I cut my grass with my 104. Just wanted to hear the overhauled engine run and check the deck adjustment. The yard looked different, better. I kept looking out the window at it and after about a pot of coffee I realized there were no tire marks. You know when you cut you can see where the tractor went by the lighter color grass. I didn't have that. It has to be the ags all the way around. What a surprise. If I figure out how to get rid of the weeds I could turn into a yard nazi.

The best way to get rid of the weeds is a fall application of broad leaf herbicide, or fertilizer impregnated with broadleaf fertilizer. I was amazed at what it did to my yard. Apply in September.

I have too many kids to be a Nazi, but I still hate weeds.

IAfarmer,

Thanks September. What do you recommend as to the weather? Before it rains or when it's not going to rain for a few days? Also will it kill my flowers?

I would follow the directions on the bag. Your garden centers (or Walmart) will soon stock the stuff, way too early.

Tri-Mec is a great spray to use. You'll need a hand sprayer for it.

Keep all weed killer away from the flowers, as it won't be pretty!

On the cub front, I need to get tubes for all 4 tires, but at least all the wheels are painted! My SO76 is starting to look sharp.

Engine cleaned. My father and I cleaned as much as we could of the old Kohler 18hp Magnum and got everything back together. and fired it up. The valves are pretty noisy but I guess they would be for 2100 hours of misuse and abuse. I had gotten about 3 dustpans full of crud and gunk off of the engine and surrounding parts and frame. The new drive line runs nice. I must say I did a pretty good job at making my own drive shaft. No more oil leaks around the fuel pump. That's always good.

2100 hours? That thing's been rebuilt or has been on borrowed time for about 600 hours. Valve noise in those is pretty normal, I think. All of mine have done that, regardless of hours.

I think it had about 1800 hours on it when I got it with our house. It has been loosing power ever since. And the hydro will take off on you sometimes. This thing looks pretty beat up and has been welded on. I'm in the process of getting some pics on here yet.

Yesterday the ups guy stopped me while I was cutting grass with the 100. "here's another one" he said. It was the left hand spindle for what I was working with. So after I finished the yard I put on a good used spindle. It seemed to me to be one of the easier things I've done on these CCs.

Great pics Diz! Your IH hat is just like mine. :beerchug:
