Nice original Cub Kong
And you have got to give us some details on the other one. I see some really nice custom pieces on there :biggrin2.gif: |
Well it looks the way it does cause it was a mess when I got it. The tin's had been folded in half and the grill was torn off. it had set for several years and the engine had been stripped. carb, intake, air cleaner and shroud had been robbed.
I decided to do it like a rat rod and keeping true to that I made all the extra stuff out of junk I had laying around and I've got a buddy that had some dimond plate he didnt want and once I got started I couldnt stop. I'll get some more pic's up of the other stuff thats on it. I've had some people that think I ruined it but the way I see it, it's not a antique. It was build in 1984 so it's not an IH and it spent the first twenty years of it's life mowing the rest stop on I29 and I think the ole dog kinda like the attension it gets now. Everytime I mow with it I'll see someone stopped in the street stairing at it. I've had them pull in the drive and look it over like it's a nice car or something. |

Cub Kong, That is cool :beerchug:
There is a lot of really nice work there. You did a great job on it. And i really like your approch to it, It wasnt like you defaced a working Cub, You took one that someone else distroyed and made it in to a usefull piece again. :Woo: |
Cub Kong,
First I have to say that when it comes to IH Cub Cadets I'm a purest. I hate weld it up grind it down and cut it up. I think a lot of those repairs are made so that the one doing them can justify their tools to their wife. I think that in no small part by the quality of their work. That being said I have to say that I freaking LOVE that custom Cub Cadet. It has all the elements that I truly Love. A skull. I'm a skull freak from forever. Diamond plate. And a little more diamond plate. It's well shaped and placed beautifully. Braided steel lines. It's like the plating, what's not to love? Iron Cross wheel centers. I use to wear one some 40 ish years ago and still like seeing them as ornaments on HDs. And now your tractor. You have made your machine fantastic with less being more. A little chrome. A little red to contrast the black. Somehow you did the exhaust so that it too looks minimalistic cool. And you didn't go crazy with the diamond plate. It just freaking beautiful. Being a purest I'd have to say it's purely cool, clean and fine. |
