About a month ago I bought a 127 with the intention of fabricating a blade on it to push snow. It had a blown head gasket and was missing part of the pto. When I got it home I put a new head gasket in it and had it running fairly well minus the smoke. After doing some looking into an overhaul kit and new pto, I quickly found out it would be cheeper to get a parts tractor to fix it up right. After posting on craigslist, a guy from Minnesota called me and told me he had a 123 parts tractor, a running 127, IH blade, and snow thrower if I was interested.

Well after the long haul last weekend to get them, they sat in the garage all week just waiting to get worked on.

On Saturday, I got the old smoking block out of the 1st 127, changed its front axle with the 123's, put the 123's motor in the 127, got the sucker running, and mounted the blade. I still need to get some lights fabricated for it, but I having a feeling that I'll have plenty of time to get it done before it snows here.

Future plans are to rebuild the pto from two broken ptos I have and depending on how much snow we get, put the snow thrower on the 2nd 127 who is still on mower duty.

Mulched some wet leaves and grass with the 1864. Dad cut up the rest of the Maple that was in the rental yard and I hauled it back to the shed.

Thanks Todd! I am not going to lie, the front was a little light! Time to put that other 50# weight on. I was able to back that cart uphill into the woodshed on wet grass with no problems. :beerchug:

The 1872 had cleanup duty and the 782 did some mowing until smoke started rolling from underneath the mower deck cover. Probably the belt but the bearings got pretty noisy.

I know I am not going to be the most popular guy on here for this, but I did prepare for the "white stuff today." When you and your wife are full time employees and are raising 3 grade school aged boys, you have to take the time to do things when you have the time.

I bought a plow for the "newer" 782 this spring and put it on today. Then also extended the paddles on the 2-stage walk-behind snow blower. Hopefully it won't clog now with the wet stuff.

Then I got to looking at the "older" 782, that will have the dual hyd removed to put on the "newer," and realized the engine on it is actually a Magnum series instead of a series 2 like I had thought. Guess it actually pays to actually look at what you have. But, I think the "older" must be a church go'r because the fender pan and frame are "holey." The PO(s) has/have drilled so many holes in this thing its probably the lightest (weight) 782 in all the Midwest.

Glad you got it up and running Allen:beerchug:
Now you need a bigger basket for the sweeper because you're way over tractored now...:beerchug:

I sweet talked my brother-in-law to make me a fixture for my power steering column. He does cnc work and it turned out nice. I'll be replacing the seals this weekend and hope to have the 1872 converted back to power steering by next week.

ACecil 10-15-2015 11:43 AM

Looks nice, Adrian!

aagitch 10-15-2015 04:54 PM

Thanks, I think I'm going to do it late at night with the kids in bed so I won't get disturbed. I also bought a spring kit just incase one goes flying and I don't find it.

Took the Haban off the 1872 today and got it ready for it's winter hibernation. Cleaned all the loose grass and the little that was caught up on the underside. Then covered the bottom with used Hy-Tran. It's not just for diffs anymore.:beerchug:

Sam Mac 10-17-2015 08:00 PM

Good idea with the used hytran. :beerchug:

Didn't get finished with what I started today but I made pretty good progress with an engine swap between a K241 to a K301. The tractor has been sitting for at least 20 years. The old batter was stamped early 1993. I also found out what 20+ years of sitting can to do tires. Swapped them out for fronts from an old Murray and rears from a 123 parts tractor. Made it run, but need some pto parts, new ignition, and some other misc. parts. I'll post more pictures when I get it all buttoned up.

Got a nice used dash installed from one of the sponsors. Also making headway on converting it back to power steering. Decided to have the axle match the yellow rear before I installed it. Waiting for the rod ends to get here for the cylinder. I replaced one of the hoses (local hose shop) due to major cracking.

The 1872 is looking good, Adrian! Keep up the good work!

Leaf Hauling

Plowed the garden Saturday with the Farmall Cub and 193 plow. Ground was hard as rock, but turned over.

Mowed Sunday and blew leaves into piles that I hauled over to the garden spot. About 10 loads. The CCC 782 (Kohler K-17 Series II) worked well. Glad to have it all done before colder weather moves in.

Worked on putting the 1872 back together. I was going to post a pick but instead I'm posting a pic of what my son worked on. I was at the 1872 and looked up and he he had put Mater on the jack, raised it a little, and even grabbed one of my wheel chocks. I had to intervene when he went to grab the 5lb hammer.

Swept the leaves with the 1872 and Agri-Fab sweeper today. Little overkill, but it is the only tractor that hasn't been put away for the winter...
Had 37 full loads:beerchug:

Looks good Buddy. I wouldn't say it's overkill, Allen C uses a 982 to do the same thing.

Looks like Allen is still enjoying the Cubs. Aren't you glad you stuck around Allen?

IHinIN 11-15-2015 06:25 PM

I spent the day raking leaves and hauling them out to the field with my 129 and dump trailer. Then, I mowed down the weeds over my new septic system with the 129. The deck got cleaned up and put away for the winter and the front blade went on. I need to make a new lift rod and swap on the turfs w/ chains and IT will be ready to plow snow. I, on the other hand will NOT be ready for snow.
