Last night before I headed into work to plow I-80, I decided to jump on the old 1200 and push the whopping 1 inch of fresh snow out of the driveway...With the headlights on...Forget who said the lights aren't the greatest to see with, but they were right. I went to a different type lights though and it helped a bit more. My bulbs are clear and brighter than the standard bulbs with the lines on them.

Have never had the 70 with headlights out after dark so I don't know about it. |

I guess it depends on where you live as to how you feel about snow. We have had record snow falls this year in NC and we have loved it and want more! Of course we went a few years without any real snow, you know, the ones that are here this morning and gone this evening. I guess if you had it every year all winter long you would get tired of it. Just send it our way. I would love to get more time in the seat of my 149 pushing snow. Hope you get dug out and get a break from it soon. Are you gettin saddle sores? :biggrin2.gif: |
Wow, and we thought the 11 inches we got was something. When you put it like that, I like what we have. I am in the foothills of western Carolina so our weather is pretty nice. We have about a month give or take of really cold weather (in the teens and 20s) and in the summer we mostly stay in the 70's-80's with some bad days in the 90's but for the most part I would say it's nice year round. Up until Feb we where staying in the 50's dipping to the 40's at night.
I was raised in VA and I remember back in the 60's and 70's we had some similar snows like you are talking about. I have some pictures of front loaders removing snow from 8 ft snow drifts that filled in the roads that cut through the hills. I like snow but I don't think what you are having would be to fun. It would completely shut this area down, you should see what 4 inches does to this area. Cars all over the road, in ditches, etc..... not to mention no milk or bread left in the stores! Hope you get dug out soon, and hopefully spring is on its way. But I still would like to experience some real snow like that here, just once, just to see what it is like. |
I don't get much snow here and I get sick of it pretty fast. well that and the cold. I used to live in Iowa and loved the snow, snowmobiling and other stuff. I'm just not used to it anymore. I wish spring was here.

Today I put my new kwik way loader on my 129. It originally came off of a Gravely. The guy I bought it from had it on a 149 it went on pretty easy though. I'm gonna have to figure out something for weight on the back before Summer though. Here are the pics.:biggrin2.gif:

Your loader looks awesome, cj4200! :beerchug:
Got some seat time in today. Here's some pics! http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/r..._0870Small.jpg http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/r..._0871Small.jpg http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/r..._0875Small.jpg |
Thanks, ACecil. Looks like you had some fun today too! Man I can't wait to be outside with just a tee shirt.
|
Come on now....really, outside in a T shirt, and raking leaves?? You really know how to make us feel bad up here in the snow belt!!
I didn't get any Cub time today, but I did walk to the barn an look at them. :biggrin2.gif: |
cj4200,
Great pictures of the loader. Looks good on the 129  ACecil. Can't believe you are outside in a tee shirt :bash2: Looks like fun though :biggrin2.gif: |
I can't believe it either, guys. We had snow on the ground last weekend. It'll be getting cold again this week. :beerchug:

Love the loader I want one so bad! AC your killing me with the T shirt pics. We had high winds blowing snow drifts again today. Caused a major road on my way to work to be closed which would have made for a 45 minute detour at least so I turned around and called in a vacation day.
Spent some time sorting out the cab on my 1872. The front shaping metal straps came in this week. I forgot to pick them up when I bought the cab! The cab is for the 82 series so I've had to do a little modding to get everything working just so. Reshaped the straps that hold the canvas up front so that all my pedals clear and I can get the canvas tight to the hood and cowl. Still need to put a couple of more grommets in the vinyl/canvas to pull it tight. Shimmed the chute adjuster so I can turn it between the cab frame and the tractor. Cleaned up the electric wiper and tried it out. The PO did a nice job fabbing it up it works well and travels just the right amount on the windshield. I think I'm going to add an amber beacon on the roof. It seems the PO had one on it. Still need to make a nice clean wiring harness for the cab with fuses and switches. I think I'll put a trailer connector in the seat pan of the tractor so I can just plug the cab in when I put it on for winter. I can't get over how good of shape the vinyl and windows are in. The vinyl windows are nearly perfect and unscratched after almost 30 years! I cleaned them real well today. In this pic you can see that the right side door is a little off. I think it got bumped with the tractor moving and tweaked it a little. I'm going to try to correct that as best I can. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re279Small.jpg before I added the shaping straps. They go forward from the windshield and then down to the footboards. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re275Small.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re276Small.jpg |
Glad you and Brandon got home safe, Bill!

Since we had our snow and I finally got the blade hooked up and operating I was jonesing to do some more work with it. The grass on the side of our parking area had built up to about 3 inches higher than the concrete so I leveled it off with the old 149. Now the rain water can run off as it should. I am amazed at what this old cub can do. It wasn't easy cutting through the sod but with time and finesse I got it. I just got the chains on after our big snow but man do they help. Fun, lots of fun today!
