haven't touched a cub in weeks. the sprocket on my QA-36 stripped all the teeth off on the auger so that's been in the shop. haven't touched it as i can't afford the $180 the cub cadet dealer wants for the sprocket alone! ridiculous. the cub 102 needs a voltage regulator as well. considering selling them both and getting rid of the headache. but, we will see. could use the extra cash to work on my 3 wheeler.
i did find a sweet cub cadet 100 on the side of the road a little ways from my house with no engine. its been sitting for a while and ive driven past it a bunch of times. but the last time i noticed it had a 3pt hitch and creeper in it. sooo...i might go see if i can pick up that just for the 3pt and creeper. also scored 2 sets of IH wheel weights. so i have 3 sets now. the 122 is in hibernation. i put the plow on it just to make it look useful but i don't ever use it for plowing snow. the 102 is only used when i need to cut banks back but it doesn't work now. oh well, the speedex can handle it all until i can get something else figured out. |
charging woes
first major storm in my area.went out to blow the driveway and alas my tractor started but soon after died due to the charging system not working.i love my 982 but it keeps leaving me stranded looks like a major overhaul in the spring.:bash2:

After starting mine the redneck way and clearing out the drifts, I backed the tractor deep into my garage and hunkered down for cold repairs.
Swapped the solonoid with one I had sitting around. Swapped the battery out of my 782. Then, cleaned all the grounds. Guess what, we are back in business! At least last night. I'll run out later today and fire it up for about 2 hours of cleaning. Huge drifts out here from the big storm. My poor 782 is probably becoming a parts tractor. I have robbed so much off of it now to keep my 1450 running that it may be too expensive to put it back together without buying another parts tractor. Not sure yet, but may be the case. |
Went out and fired up the 71 only to find out the gearbox for the thrower is taking a crap. I noticed a good bit of play in the gears when I repacked it with grease and after running it a little hard it started making a pretty horrible noise and was shaking the front of the tractor. Going to take the gearbox off the cw36 as its the same for the cc36. That one is nice and tight, I'll post some pics of the gearbox internals later. Off to the shop!

Got the 3 point painted today, now if I can find the right lift bar for the 582 I'll be all set. Went and bought new bolt's for the lower bracket and bought the wrong size, Duh. Guess I will have to make another trip to the farm store, DANG the bad luck,:biggrin2: lol. Paint matches pretty good but I think the hitch plate needs a fresh coat now to match.:bigthink:

Great job, Eric! :beerchug:

That is what I have to do with mine. Get it painted and a bar to fit the 782 made. Too cold for paint right now, so will have to wait for about another couple of months. The paint job looks good. :beerchug:

Thanks for the compliments. Yea it looks good it has some dust in it but oh well. I have the lift bar for a 782 but I need the bent bar for the manual lift. I might put hydro lift on my 1282 this summer so I can put the 3 point on it if I do. I wish I needed the strait bar I would have made one by now. There's nothing to the strait bar.
