Got some unexpected seat time on the 982 yesterday evening. Jenn and I gathered some limbs for the fire pit.

Garden Tilling 2015

Had the tractor and 400 tiller out for garden tilling today for mine and my neighbours gardens. Every time I use this setup I'm impressed. That tiller is sure a beast!

Front oil seal on the 169 has been leaking worse, so i decided to replace it today.

http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...psxk1vja00.jpg

Getting the P.T.O. bearing off.

http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...ps64fo1rtq.jpg

http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...psmqg2gbdx.jpg

The pulley on the other hand was a pain. I have never had it off since i have owned it.

http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...pspmbndhrd.jpg

But i got it.

http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...psrxmv9qc2.jpg

The old seal looked pretty bad.

http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...psbboxlolt.jpg

Got the new seal installed and everything put back together.
Changed the oil and gave it a bath.

If all else fails, bring out the "heat wrench".:bigthink:

Diz Jr. 05-22-2016 12:05 AM

Thanks guys, Yeah, it took a little heat to get the pulley loose. Never had one stick that tight.

ACecil 05-22-2016 10:32 AM

Great job, Diz! The 169 is looking good!

Oak 05-22-2016 10:35 AM

I make an inexpensive tool that makes it extremely easy to take off the PTO basket

PTO pulley puller

The pulley puller uses the 5/16" threaded holes in the pulley to pull it off much easier.
Each unit is supplied with handle and threaded rod with centering point to locate on the crankshaft. Use a 9/16" wrench or socket.

It's used as shown here ( version shown in pictures does not have the weld cutouts, all pullers have that now)

$22 each plus shipping

Diz Jr. 05-22-2016 10:36 PM

Well that sure would have been handy.
I really fought that pulley.

Used the 1641 to tow the Bush Hog Flail Mower. Had some stuff that was about 3' tall that needed mowing. I love this weapon!

Had a good Cub day, got the 1641 with the sickle bar out to cut some stuff that would have required the weed whacker otherwise. Way more fun doing it with the Weapon. Then it was till the garden for the honey. The 149 with the tiller took care of that mission. I did have to rip it first with the Ripper on the BX to break it up. Didn't feel like abusing the poor old 149. Sorry no pics of the 149 but maybe tomorrow. Here is a before and after of the 1641 with the sickle bar. :beerchug:

CubDieselFan 05-28-2016 04:41 PM

Yep, sickle bar mowers are awesome. I will have one someday.

Promised tiller pics. Tough piece of ground, lots of rocks. I kept the small belt on the tiller a little on the loose side rather than bust something expensive. Jammed it a couple times.

ACecil 05-30-2016 04:36 PM

Looking good, Sam. I see you have the Sun. Getting rain from Bonnie here.
