Well , I mowed today, but I'm getting the feeling that the 108 needs major
attention .

Last two times I mowed, started to use oil [half a qt in an acre and a half.]

mentioned before that it was smoking mostly out the breather, now when it first starts coming out the muffler big time for almost a whole lap around the yard then backs off . then returns back to the breather on down hill right turns mostly.

also noticed sparks coming from the throwout bearing area when I got off to move a down drain pipe.

Hope I can get another couple months out of her.

Thinking of givin er the heart out of the Bolens. 18 HP V twin Van Guard.

Just wondering If PTO bearing would be OK.

Jim H.,
You should look over your engine when you can to see just what you have going on. I had a K301 that smoked like a fog machine. It was a nightmare inside. On the other hand I have had two K241 that smoked, one really bad. The one only needed de-carbonized and a valve adjustment. Of course truing up the head did not hurt either. The other got the same treatment with a new piston, rod and rings. They are both running strong and smooth. What I'm trying to say is that it might not be all that bad inside and you won't know till you look. And based on what I have seen with my tractors I think an inspection is very worth while.

Well I am still trying to figure out how to mount my IH model 2 tiller to my 1811 3 pt bracket the way that the previous owner supposedly had it. I have a thread in the attachments section with pics up for suggestions and advice if anyone is interested.

Spent most of the day on the 149. Loaded up and went to the property where i grew up to do the mowing there. Then headed over to my friends house to help him mow. Between the 2 places it was about 7 hours of seat time :biggrin2.gif:

Diz Jr.,
That is a great mow. Some of what you cut looks to be over 3 feet high and I don't see any clumps or piles or stragglers. What is your secret?:bigthink:

RPalmer,

I just mow the open areas. The tall stuff is just around the edge where i mow. The one picture where i am headed down the hill is just my path that opens into another small field.

See if this video works, You can see where i was mowing
