When I walked in the garage from work last night I noticed a small puddle of oil, about 2" around under the cub. Took a quick glance but couldn't see anything jumping out as to whats leaking, it's right under the dipstick. I'll have to wipe it all down to see where it's coming from.

Started building a sleeve hitch adapter and painted my stack with some black high temp paint.

On the way home yesterday I stopped by the case dealer and picked up a belt for my tiller..... Different guy than before so of course he said I needed a different size belt. I picked up one thats 143.8 inches accoding to the thats supposed to be the one I need, and it was the only size they had in stock, I figure I'd give it a try, might get to that tomorrow morning.
Last night I took off the snow blade, pulled off the cover from the rear to change out and put Hytran in it and started working on getting the tiller mounted. After getting the cover off and cleaning the old gasket while the fluid drained I tried to change the filter and realized I didn't have a filter wrench, let someone borrow it. So I took measurements on some other parts I needed. Then I cleaned up, went to Home Depot and picked up some all thread and steel so I can make a belt tensioner for the muler drive and get rid of the spring, Had to get 1" bolts to bolt the gear box on to the rear, and picked up a Clevis, and some quick links to use from my lift pin to the chains on the tiller since I do not have the adjuster T and rod and my pin has a horizontal hole in it. I'm working all day today then as soon as I get home I have to go to the other job so I won't get to work on it again until Saturday :bash2: http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l...2/4fb3e6f8.jpg |
Changed the oil in the 100 today. Had to get a pic while it was in the sunshine! :beerchug:

Today I tilled... then noticed my tire was flat when I was done, you can tell in the video by how far the tiller is leaning.

I've been sitting around waiting for my wire harness to be built for the diesel so I decided to experiment with a stainless steel pipe that the PO gave me. I haven't decided to keep it on or put the stock muffler back on. I like it but my wife shook her head at it.

Thanks for the great vids, Magnum! :beerchug:
Your 982D looks great, Adrian! |
Got them cleaned, oil changed and greased in the nice weather.

Finished up my sleeve hitch adapter. I just need to paint it. I'll post some pics later. Now to decide what attachments I want to build/buy.
|
I've been tearing the super apart to get at many items that need fixed or upgraded in the next couple of weeks. Today I got the grinder and cup brush after all 4 rusty wheels and cleaned and primed them. I little paint and then I can mount and load the new tires!

Here's a pic of my sleeve hitch adapter I built and my stack that I painted black.
|
Great job on your sleeve hitch adaptor and stack, IHinIN!
|
WOW! That is a great job on that sleeve hitch! Very rugged looking too!
:High5: |
Today I took the snow blades off the 128 and the 124, removed the turfs with chains, put the AG's back on them and then mounted the mower decks. I also bolted the 55 lb wheel weights on to the 1872.
Filthy jeans and a tired back....but hey, the Cubs look good and I had a good time doing it! :biggrin2.gif: |
IHinIN,
Now thats a rugged looking sleeve hitch adapter  |
Thanks guys. Hey, if you're gonna build it you might as well build it to last.
|
I took the 1210 and mowed the small branches that littered my yard then mulched the mess with the 1641. Washed both and now it's time for a cold one.

Hauled in the last (hopefuly) few loads of wood for the hungry oudoor wood furnace with the 982 today. This is the first time I got to use the 982 for anything heavy and it pulled the trailer full of wood with no problem, I'm liking it. Still need to do some work to it but it runs great.
Sewed some grass the other day and it is already coming up, love the spring weather in NC. We have seen some 70 degree days and more to come this week. Ahh, spring.............. |
Great pic of your 982, Chip! I know what you mean about the nice weather. I'm loving it! :beerchug:
|
Today I started building a rear grader blade. It will be similar to the Brinly rear blade but built heavier. I still need to figure out what I'm gonna make the blade itself out of. I'm thinking about making it like the Cub front blade with a replaceable cutting edge.

the weather was perfect so i hooked up my plow to my now running 129 and had a ball. i first tried it out with my 23x10.5 turfs and it went ok but the tires are to wide so i put on some 23x8.5 turfs, double wheel weights, and chains, and got after it. i had never used a plow before but it went so well that i doubled the size of my vegetable patch.

I hope to being doing some plowing soon! Got pick up some new toys next weekend! Pictures and hopefully video's to follow! |
The steering's been getting harder on the 124, so yesterday I put it up in the front, tore down the front end, and the axle.
All the grease was dried up. I modified the front pin for the axle when I had the engine out last....I put a 3/4" OD, 1/2" ID bronze bushing all the way through, then a shouldered 1/2" bolt with a Lock nut. The bolt goes in through the front, nut in the rear. Makes things alot easier. So, all greased up, and back together. Much better. I'm going to be putting bearings on the spindles soon, top and bottom....but haven't had the time. Oh, and I made a spring assist....did it WF style. Bolts to the deck lift arm. Then made a strong angle bracket and bolted it on the side of the seat support panel. No, long angle rod needed....put it low so to tighten it, I use a socket on an extension, under the 3pt lift arm.....Chain with a shackle to the arm, then a 12" heavy spring from the chain to a eye-bolt. Woks nice....cost nothing. |

Can you leave the gearbox on year round, will it interfere with the plow or anything? |
yes, that is a gear box and i had wondered if it would be a problem. in some areas the furrow was deep enough that i was pushing dirt with the mule drive. i have the PTO set correctly and disengaged so the belt does not move. if it did then it would be chewing up everything in its path and that would be a problem.
|
Hauled some limbs to the woods. Had some bad storms late Sunday night, into early Monday morning. Eight tornadoes were reported in NC. Sorry, no pics this time.
