Did a little plowing yesterday, not my best. I like the GT hitches better than the SGT for plowing. Watch how the hitch slams over to the left side of the tractor when the plow sinks in. Is it set up wrong? I like how the GT hitches have the chains you can tighten to keep the hitch from swaying around.

Don't know Todd, seems like it's rolling the dirt just fine.
Thanks for the vid.:beerchug: Yeah, yeah, :callyou: |
Looks pretty good to me Todd!:beerchug::beerchug:
Does your tractor have the guides on the inside of the lift arms? They take the place of the chains on the SGT. If they are there they should help keep the lift arms centered. It is normal for the plow to pull a little to one side. Looks like you were rolling some pretty good dirt though!!:biggrin2: |
Winter is coming. I've been haphazardly looking for a blade for my 1641. I went to look at one the guy claims to fit a wide frame. Upon arrival Im quite surpised to see a blade with IH decal, and curved mounting arms. He was asking $50, I couldn't load it fast enough. Sometimes I forget I have an O stuffed in the back of the garage. Looks like its time to get it out!

I took the 48 inch GT decks off the 1863 and 1641 this morning. I'll scrape the underside, pressure wash, sharpen blades , grease and put them in the shed for winter. One of these is the one I painted this spring, I can see some places on the underside where the paint is all gone.

Did the last cut the other day with the 2264. Gonna give it an oil change, park it for the winter and drain the gas out of it. Will do the same for the other yard equipment. Put the chains on the BX now all I need to do is put the plow on. :beerchug:

Because Cat0 hitches are extremely expensive, and I already have the sleeve hitch and implements, I'm working on fitting an older wide frame sleeve hitch lift setup into my 2284 to use my sleeve hitch implements on it. After a few different ideas, this is the one I settled on. I made my own lift arm, and bent it exactly that same as the original one. Drilled 5/8" holes in the sides of the rear hitch plate and installed the rock shaft. This was tricky to assemble because of the lift stop arm on one side. It all has to be assembled to slide into the back of the tractor because there's no room to get in behind the hitch plate to hook it all up. I also made a sleeve hitch mount for the sleeve hitch I have to mount to it. It's not a cub sleeve hitch, so it's wider than the original. It's bolted to the cast iron rear end that I swapped in with the super pump and reduction gear. I have to make ears on the back to reach out to the bottom bolt holes on the side of the tranny. I will still be able to use the original hitch on the hitch plate as well by simply removing the sleeve hitch This is going to be a real work horse I hope. Here's what I got so far:
Attachment 88555 Ignore the oil drip on the cardboard underneath. I had a leak from the pickup tube that I since tightened up and resolved the leak. |

2264 end of season service
Started on the end of season service for my 2264. Pulled the deck, changed the oil & filter on the engine after 32 hours this season. Going to drain the hydro, replace the axle seals they are not leaking but I want to pull the axels and suck what ever crud is in the axle tubes out so I may as well stick a new set of seals in and be done with it, I'll install a set of Xtreme GT rear end braces, new filter and fluid, new Xtreme rear cover plate. Grease job and it will be ready for spring.:beerchug:

Spring is a long way away my man...
I have been pretty lame working on the cubs, but then again, that is good. |

knowing all to well about loose valves and auto compression releases, i adjusted the valves, of course found very loose exhaust . still cranked hard, smoke came out of the starter motor, took it off and apart cleaned the armature and brushes ,oiled the dry oilite bushings and drive. turned over like new. but ran rough, pulled the plugs, left side was wet. right side perfect, check the spark. WEAK, o-well hand over $75.00 + tax to the shop for a new coil. runs better yet smokes a little, did a compression test OK, check the leak down, test's about 35% left side, no wonder it smoked more on left turns. 300 hours on the clock. tell the other half i need to spend a few hundred for a real kohler rebuild kit, or find a CV that fits rather to keep dealing with a SV 730 o-well there goes the NOV. I sucked up leafs for the neighbors with my 1864 and vac. Then took the deck and all it’s goodies off and out the blade on the 1863. I’m still debating if I’m going to keep the 1863 or sell it. I have a walk behind snowblower, but might push some snow this winter for the fun of it.

very nice agri-fab leaf machine there, that itself is a beast
took the motor off my fake CC yesterday, pulled off the heads. left side needs a bore job, found online that small engine warehouse has a kt730 for 700. a predator won't work, while the shaft is right the cables & fuel line on the right not left exhaust all wrong making for lots of welding plus it's the same price as a new kohler have to use my 1978 12 hp for the last leaf and mow |

Nice 551 blower!:beerchug:

I got a 551 over the summer to use on my 2284. Those things are beasts. It was way bigger in person than I expected. Argh argh more power! :biggrin2:

Maybe he fills his garage up with sand, and makes a ramp, then he drives them up there then removes the sand.

2182 was not starting. Tracked it down to just simply needing new battery cables. The old one were corroded inside when I opened them up.

I built ramps with a sliding rod lock system, and I use a winch to pull up/let down the vehicles. At 6'3" & 260 I used to muscle things around, but, but after creating pile after pile of old calender pages, big jobs require different strategy. One of my dads best lessons was, "if you work smart, you shouldn't have to work hard". I didn't stop for tractor going up pics. Please excuse the chaos, this was last year as we were moving in. In the 2nd pic you can see the brackets that the ramps drop over, then the rods are slid in to block them in place.

Sunday was a beautiful day up here in MN for getting some splitting and stacking done. PeterJ |
This is the same day as the previous pic. Our granddaughter came out for a visit and when she sees the cub, she makes a beeline to it. It's probably her last ride with "Poppy", as she's growing up too fast. PeterJ |

I was replacing the steering joints on the 1641 today and found the gasket holder on the steering box out of position. The picture is not very good but you can see it hanging. If I decided to remove the box I assume I can separate it at the joint between the top and bottom section.

Good point Terry, I wonder why it has two balls and a shaft, and the driveshaft has 4 balls?

I guess the low rpm doesn't require as many balls? :beerchug: |
