I cut grass with my 129 for the first time. I forgot how nice it is to mow with a hydrostat after mowing with my 126 all season.

Scraped out another 5 gallon bucket of chit from under my main deck. Then I puts it under 2182-3. Tomorrow I will put it in the harness for the first time. Fuel system is just not right yet. I'll get it sooner or later.:bash2:

What i’ve been doing in my garage for the past year on and off

This is my first post, i’ve Been reading and lurking for almost a year. Growing up I mowed lawns at my parents with a 127, 128, and a 129. About a year and a half ago my friend gave me a 1450 that needed some love. Needless to say I fixed it up painted it and got a running like a top. This sparked my interest and I was searching for more Cubs. This is how I got my current project. Today I Got the 1872, now a 2072 up and running, and some needed seat time. I originally bought this machine and an 1810 about a year ago for 400.00 for the two. I swamped the engine from the 1810 to the 1872 because it was running. Gave it some much needed tlc, a bath and some new paint. Some of the hydro linkage was also busted and needed replacing. In the mean time bought a 450 blower on hopes of using it in the winter. Got everything back together and ready to go. During January of last year started the tractor up and used the blower for a few passes in the drive. Needless to say the engine needed some work running at full throttle. Did some research on line for an m18 rebuild kit. Didn’t find to much. I was also talking to my small engine parts guy, he mentioned that kohler wasn’t making parts anymore for the magnums. He said this was because of the epa regs. At this point I started looking for an engine to repower the super. In my search I wanted an engine that was 20+ hp. I searched cl and Facebook marketplace for the next 5 months. A few engines came up not many in my price range. I went to purchase a front plow blade for another cub, the guy had a 2206 that I looked at. I bought the 2206 from him. The ch 20 had 560 hours on it. I also bought a pulling tractor from him that has 26x12x12 ag’s that will be mounted on this as soon as my tourque arms get here. Feels good to drive the new 2072. I still have some more things to do before it’s a 100% ready. The hood from an 1811 was in better shape than the original. I also have the haban deck I want to rebuild and use as a back up mower to my Ferris IS 3000

twoton 08-29-2018 07:57 PM

Good deal there Showard.

Hey, welcome to OCC!

Alvy 08-29-2018 08:26 PM

Looking good Showard, welcome. I see some trailer hubs on there did you do that conversion also? Where are you from in NY?

Showard 08-29-2018 10:12 PM

Thanks twoton, I thought it was a good deal as well, the guy I bought them from lived 10 minutes away from too.

Thanks as well Alvy. I’m about 30 mins east of Syracuse. I did do the front wheel conversion. I bought the trailer hubs and rims from Home Depot online around 65.00 total, I had a 50.00 gift card from Father’s Day. I literally have only put an hour on the engine and wheels need some more seat time to see how they work, hopefully we’ll. I have to Fab or modify a heat shield for the exhaust. Then I can put some new round led lights in, I also have to cut a hole in the right side panel for the exhaust. I’m rebuilding and painting the 450 blower. I also have a cab that I have to modify and give some tlc too make it work. I’m still looking for a 3 pt hitch in the future for it. I have a JD 3 valve hydraulic control and want to put a separate lift and control for the 3 pt hitch.
Thanks again guys. Cubs keep me busy and consumed.

Showard 08-30-2018 07:10 PM

Thanks Allen, I have a 102 that I need to rebuild the engine on. I think it would look good with duels on it. I have been reading through (mostly looking at pictures) the past post on what did you do on your cub today. About half way through some where in the 400’s. I really do see what you mean by getting some seat time, I really enjoyed finally driving the super. I’m looking forward to using the 450 blower. The super tourque arms and blower cutting edge came in today from Xtreme Motorworks. I hope I can get those painted and put on possible tomorrow and then I can put the Carlisle ag’s on it as well. I’ll include pictures when that happen’s
Thanks again Allen

Spent a lot of time mowing today with the 1450 and pulling the rake around. Did a great job pulling out the thatch and breaking up the dead grass. It's been so dry around here for the past 2 months plus, I'll be doing a lot of re seeding.

Nice looking cub! I love the look of the narrow frames with duels. I swapped out the front end of my 125 with a cyclops front end to give it a little wider look.

ACecil 09-05-2018 11:31 AM

Nice 125, you have there!

ACecil 09-20-2018 09:45 AM

Took the 1512 for a ride yesterday evening. I'm really enjoying that tractor!

Got to do some hurricane cleanup with the 1512 over the weekend. Pulled a huge limb, the 1512 didn't know it was there! :biggrin2:

Thankfully, it didn't, Lew. It did hit the edge of the shed in the fence and dented the tin. No house damage, thank goodness!

ACecil 10-01-2018 12:05 PM

We got Jenn's Fall decorations up over the weekend. The 1512 and Lilly had to make an appearance! :biggrin2:

Put the 129 to work spreading fall weed n feed on the yard. Hopefully, I still have something green growing in a week or so. The broadleaf weeds currently outnumber the grass.

The speed control linkage tension needs some attention on the 129. It kept wanting to go full speed.

ACecil 10-02-2018 12:44 PM

129 is looking good, Adam!

Had 14” of snow night before last. Far too early for that. But, to make the most of it, I prepped the 149 for snow duty and plowed the driveway. It was bitter-sweet. Love the seat time on the cub but not ready for snow this soon.

I drilled some wheat with my 1782 today. Well, maybe I just backed my new to me drill into the hole in the barn where I wanted to park it.

Waiting to try out the tiller

1 Attachment(s)
I was having some trouble getting the john deere tiller hooked up to the 1772. Seems the PTO shaft is too long. I spaced the tiller back some to where I think it will work, and now it's too muddy to try it out....

ACecil 10-22-2018 12:56 PM

Good looking 1772 and tiller!
