Getting my stuff ready for summer. Pulled the plow and chains off the BX 2660, sharpened the blades and greased the spindles on the deck for the 2264, gassed the 2264 up and fired it up, drained the trans oil out of it. Gotta pickup some oil and a filter and refill it, then mount the deck back on and it's ready to go.:beerchug:

Good deal Dallton! I saw that one on CL but it was a little too far for me. 1806's are pretty rare, what are your plans with it?

dalton02657 03-28-2019 08:14 AM

Thanks! But yeah I think it ended up being a little farther from me than I thought it was too. I’m not sure what I’m gonna do it I bought it for parts but I’ve already started working on it so it’ll probably be a up and going in a couple weeks

Hi Dallton,

What part of GA are you located in? Not many of us Cub guys in GA it seems? 1806 looks like a good project!

dalton02657 03-28-2019 11:37 AM

I’m from Toccoa Georgia, but yeah seems that we are a rarity around here. It’s rare to even see one of the machines themselves for me

I got the 1863 into the garage, changed oil and filter. cleaned outer air filter, greased everything and put the deck on it. I was looking for something to catch the oil from the filter and remembered there was an empty 1/2 gallon bleach jug in the laundry room. I've had to start writing the date and hours on the filter, I'm to old and have to many tractors to remember.

One similar to this. I baited with some expired carrots I found in the fridge.

CadetTommy 04-04-2019 10:43 PM

That's a sharp 1872, one of the best tractors made for mowing.

Shrew, I caught a groundhog when I was going for coons with cinnamon bread from the pantry for what it's worth.

I like those live traps, if you get a friendly cat or desirable creature, you can always let it go.
With a conibear trap, that option does not exist.
I have learned you can catch wood chucks without bait.
just locate near a burrow/den, they are curious and walk right in.
Try it, you will be surprised.
I just hate it when I catch a skunk, it is never an odorless situation.

Funny you mention the pole cat. A few years ago, I had it set with no bait. My trusty sidekick decided to corner one right into the trap. I quickly learned how to remove it without much stink. Other than what the dog caught. Walk to the trap with a tarp in front of you and cover it. Then you can can carry it out to an open spot and take care of business with out much stink. :beerchug:

I changed out the steering rod ends on the 1863 this morning. There's still a little play coming from the steering box but I'm not going to take that apart during mowing season. I greased the CV joint in the drive shaft, I forgot about it when I greased everything else.

I shot a skunk in my driveway that was living under our shed, and I didn't want that. My driveway stunk like skunk piss for the entire summer. :biggrin2:

First mowing of the season. The wife sure likes the power steering and smoother ride.

CadetTommy 04-08-2019 07:56 AM

Supers are great for mowing. My 1872, and JD 400 of the same size, are the smoothest riding of all my machines.

ACecil 04-08-2019 01:11 PM

Put the 1512 to work yesterday. :biggrin2:

I did a little rolling with the 1650 today. A friend of mine brought over his mini excavator to dig out 3 large stumps for me. I thought I'd roll it some before I spread topsoil.

Replaced the sediment bowl assembly, lost the needle valve last weekend.
Picked this up on the cheap 2 flats and a bent lift arm. Made repairs added some weight and aerated the yard.

IHinIN 04-14-2019 09:38 AM

Yesterday, I got the 129 out and rolled the yard. I may put the deck on it and mow with it a few times this year to earn it’s keep around here. It’s been a little neglected since I got my zero turn.

UPS delivered this today. It was easy to assemble and seems stout enough for my needs. I didn't like the idea of stacking cement blocks on it and didnt really think they woud be heavy enough anyway. A neighbor had given me the 20 10 pound gym weights awhile back. I had a bunch of threaded rod hanging around so what the hell I figured. Put the stuff to good use. I plan on making some sort of rack for the back of a coupler tractos that will utilize some of the weights for other uses as well.

I got it home after work and plugged the whole yard within a few hours. The unit performed great!. In the back yard the grass was due for a cutting and the 126 had no problem cutting and plugging simultaneously. Very happy with my 126 and the aerator.
