After a Spring of rain and more rain I got a chance to get out the 1641 for some mowing. We have a local volunteer group that mows and maintains the landscaping along the highway entering our little slice of Heaven. If we relied on the City to mow it would get done about every six weeks and look horrible. We prefer the park look and it does make a great impression. We take ownership in our public areas around here seriously. Anyways...
https://scontent-ort2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...30&oe=5D733607 It's been muddy and one section hasn't been mowed because all the other guys have had traction problems. My 1641 with ag tires loaded with washer fluid just walked through the tough sections. Having the mower deck properly set also helped. You guys have been a fantastic resource for all things 1641 and are helping keep our town looking clean and inviting. Once we raise the money for a proper tractor we'll probably retire the three mowers we are using now, my Cub, an older JD, and a newer big box store Cub that probably won't survive the mowing season. |

The Cubota crapped out on me yesterday. It felt like it was not getting any fuel.
It wasnt getting any fuel! Took off the seat pans, seat, fuel tank and cleaned everything . The tank cutoff valve under the tank was clogged up. I cleaned all the fuel system from tank to injectors and all is well. Of course, this is the first 90 degree day in this part of NC! Finished mowing the yard, mopping up spilled diesel, cleaning tools... I'm HOT! |

Planned on tilling the garden yesterday, but had a pop up thunderstorm that drenched everything  After the sun came out, I gave the 982 a long needed bath. Hopefully I'll have a few dry days to get in the garden.

Oak & AC - Thanks!
I got the garden tilled last week and used the FEL on the Kubota to do a little regrading in the garden. Also got a half day of brush hogging at my hunting lease. Mostly trails, but also cut 4 food plots that need sprayed this week. Hopefully next week I'll have the 982 & tiller out to prep & plant the plots. |

With any luck, I got technology to cooperate and let me put pictures of them on the internet, along with a little garden work, buttoning up some wiring on the 2166, and painting the tin on my Snapper's engine with Rust Oleum Almond.
|
Fueled up and checked fluids in the 982 along with greasing the 442 and topping off the gear box. Going to trailer the pair to my hunting lease Saturday morning to til and plant some food plots. Weather looks like it's going to cooperate, so I'll try to take some pics.

Having a little trouble uploading the video, but here's a few pics of the work. We got 4 plots tilled and planted on Saturday before the belts came off the rear pto of the 982  Too tired on Saturday when I got home to tear into it, so I may get into it tonite. Hoping it's a simple situation, but overall the tiller did a great job. I knew I needed some weight on the front, but it was very evident on the incline of the last plot. Worked the 982 hard and put 4 hours on the meter.
|
So, I tore into the rear pto. The belts came off along with the spring. I found that the idler pulley mount bent. Where it bent on the 90* it also cracked. I ground out the crack and welded 360* around. Got it back together and the pulleys all run true and the rear pto is back up and running.

I brought my 1320 out of retirement to cut grass today. First time in over a year, it started right up, I didn’t even have to charge the battery.

Lawn looks good!

Came across this... CURB SIDE late last week. CUB CADET SRC621.
It's a sort of Cub ( MTD)... I know I know it doesn't count. Handle bar brackets were Boltless, Gear select cable (6 gears) wasn't even close to adjusted. Hasn't seen Grease probably since it was new ( 2002 era). Valves needed adjusting. AND a serious bath. A couple of hours of casual tinkering and , as a Sea Trial, I mowed 1 acre. Not sure what to do with ANOTHER spare mower but when I see these things Curbside I cannot see them heading for the crusher. |

Any room for a small Gusset on the bend? |
Worked on the 782D yesterday. The PTO solenoid gets hot (as does everything under the hood) and the housing of the fast-on connector that mates to the solenoid seems to relax when warm. That coupled with the lack of spring tension in the connector blades allows the solenoid to drop out after everything heat soaks.
I reseated the conductors inside the connector housing (harness end) and cleaned everything so Mister Ohm doesn't contribute to the heat and we're back to normal operation now . Anyone know what the current draw is for the mower PTO when it's in the "hold" state? Must be a fair amount. |
