Looks good. Did you clean and repack the steering CV joint while you had the engine out? See attached pic with joint circled in red. If your muffler is the same as the one I used from Cub the exhaust pipe will hit the dipstick tube. See attached with the area that it hits circled in red.

Yep, I rebuilt that one. Glad I did, it was near bone dry. I can't wait to take the hammer to the tube. At least it means I have a muffler and I am in the home stretch.

I was playing with the throttle cable routing and I noticed that the Command only uses about 1/3 of the travel of the lever on the dash. Is this just my motor, is this normal or I am looking at it wrong.

Yep it only uses part of the travel.

I am almost ready to go. I have the wiring done and I had the battery in to make sure everything fit. I attached the positive lead and then measured the voltage between the negative terminal on the battery and the negative wire. I showed a voltage just under 12 volts with everything off. I did not think this should happen so I worked to find out what was pulling the voltage. I found out that it was the voltage output for the regulator. Is this normal? I assume that any voltage out will eventually drain the battery. Can I test the regulator without a special tool?

The job is done and the tractor is running and cutting grass like a champ. Here are some more pictures of the job. The engine runs kind of funny. It will run rough and surge like it has a bad governor right after starting. This happens for about 15 seconds, then it smooths out and runs strong. I think it smooths our when the oxygen sensor kicks in. I always had trouble with the old magnum surging after a long grass cutting session, when I turned the PTO off. The Command EFI does not do this. I like the sound of the command better then the magnum. I ended up getting a used muffler from Patton Acres. Cub had ordered new ones from their supplier. When they came it they turned out to be wrong in some way. Cub did not give me details. Cub has not given me any idea how long it will take to get a new one. I will probably buy the new one anyway just to have around. These old parts go up 10% a year. I want to make sure I have one so I can reach my goal of having this for 10 more years at least.

I would be interested in selling the old magnum as a whole to someone. I do not want to ship it however. I do travel around the upper Midwest, so a delivery is an option. Otherwise I will part it out.

Thanks to everyone who helped.

Frank that looks top notch!

Place a for sale ad you'll have a better luck finding a home for it there.
